Ordinary People. Extraordinary Actions.

Unlike conventional charity organizations World Peace Emerging.com puts you at the front lines armed with your dollar so that you can watch it work. Whether it's saving an American from starvation, getting a forty cent vaccination to an infant in Rwanda, or giving a micro-loan to a family in Thailand you can follow your contribution every step of the way. If donating doesn't sit well with you thats fine, maybe you would like to write a letter of empowerment to one of the projects, or submit a new story lead. Anything is everything, and when it comes to saving the world it's a huge job, but everyone plays a part. Whats your?

Poverty is man made, but here's the good news it can be man fixed.

One Person Makes All The Difference

Super Star of the Month: Tom Ritchey & Project Rwanda

A simple bike tour takes a left turn and becomes a mission to lift Rwandans out of poverty.

Tom Ritchey's plan to tour the world on his mountain bike included alot of places, but Rwanda wasn't even on his radar. It was Dan Cooper, his long time friend, who suggested it. They set out in December 2005. Little did they know how life changing their trip would be.

Rwanda is known as the land of a thousand hills. It is green and lush, and tiny - just under 10,000 square miles. Close to the equator, it's warm and tropical, with bananas and passion fruits hanging from trees that are home to wild gorillas. The population of eight and a half million lives quite simply, in homes with dirt floors, only cloth where doors and windows might be, no running water, no electricity. The most densely populated of African nations, it is mostly rural with 80% of it's people agriculturally based.

The Good, The Bad, and The Adventure

Hans Rey & Wheels 4 Life Project

Exploring the world has been a lifelong adventure for former Mountain Bike World Champion, Hans Rey.

And on these adventures he has seen the impact a bicycle can make to someone in severe poverty. In the west we use bicycles largely for recreation, but to a majority of people, a bicycle can be the means to get a job, go to school, or to carry wares to market. A bicycle can be a great gift that lifts a person up and into a position of strength.

Wheels 4 Life is his answer to this discovery.

Champion of the People

Cliff Judy & The Yard Of The Week Project

Down in South Carolina, the black communities can be pretty rough, with crime in the streets, drugs and other problems in the homes. These neighborhoods are a place where people see nothing but trouble and have very little hope for any other life. Clif Judy is a man who has a vision. He's found a way to give the people in the poor black communities a new outlook, one with pride and promise.

Compassion in Action

Prosper and the JRMD Project

Prosper is a big man, over 6 feet tall with a commanding presence. His work as a minister and community leader was not improving the nightmare around him. So he took it on as a personal challenge to rebuild his war ravaged country of Burundi, Africa. With the help of Hutu and Tutsi youth Prosper and the JRMD project have built over 3,000 homes for the people of Burundi.

Mission Accomplished

Susan Bradbury & The Sound Essence Project

Susan Bradbury is a soft spoken acupuncturist, someone you can usually find in her hole-in-the-wall office in Bellingham, WA, taking her time with patients. To sit a moment with her, she is so gentle that you would never imagine her trekking the wildest frontiers, working to alleviate poverty and rescue a dying culture. But she lives a second life. In a chance meeting just days after her return from Mongolia, Susan told us the story of her month long journey across the roadless tundra. She shared with us her amazing submersion into an ancient culture, and the projects she launched that just might save it.

Compassion

If One Person Makes All The Difference Then Two Can Change The World

The 100 Friends Project started 18 years ago, in 1989. The idea is very simple. Every year many people contribute to the project and I take the money to Third World Countries and I go looking for the neediest people I can find. Then I put the money to work in the most compassionate, appropriate, culturally compatible, constructive and practical manner possible. You put the donation into my hands and I put the funds directly into the hands of the needy individual or family, or a small trusted grassroots organization helping them.

My plans for 2007 are to build two schools, one in Afghanistan and one in Cambodia. I am also planning to help the Tuareg Nomads in Niger in 2008 with schools, wells, food banks and health clinics. A visit to Malawi is also in the works. These are two of the poorest countries on Earth. My goal is to raise and then bring $25,000 to Africa...

Do you know what made great men great? It's those little things and the classic example is the one you've written here about a simple bike tour! We all can do little things to make things big! Another example I can share is this site that offer recycled checks at half the price! You save money, you save Mother Earth! My sister once bought her own Fairy personal checks and they are made of recycled material! Very awesome pictures, too! I believe she supplied her own images to put on those checks! You should try to take a look into it and for sure, you will love what you will see from there! Thanks for the info, by the way!
