StorageMart Colorado Self Storage Units

Colorado represents serenity to many of us who live there, and to those of us who wish to relocate to Colorado or just visit for a vacation. Picture perfect post cards plant a desire to pack up your things, put them in a StorageMart and camp on the mountainside. Camping on the mountainside near Basalt, Colorado is a favorite way to spend a weekend with friends and family for residents and visitors of the area.

The Rocky Mountains spread across the state, in fact, the Rockies stretch all the way into New Mexico and if you were driving through Kansas, to get to Colorado, you would cheer at the sight of the proud, tall mountains.

The Rocky Mountains are more than just a photo opportunity. The wildlife and nature provide the perfect atmosphere for activies like camping, canoeing, white water rafting, skiing, fishing, hiking, rock climbing or staying indoors near a window and overlooking a breathtaking view.

One of Colorado's most notorious adventures is a white water rafting experience. The Royal Gorge, a canyon in the Arkansas River, attracts courageous or outrightly insane thrill seekers to tempt their fate in the class IV rapids, which churn boats and men alike in its merciless currents.

Less death-defying but just as awestriking is canoeing through a lazy river, far downstream from the angry rapids. Casting a line into the brisk, cool water is sure to gurantee your trout dinner for the evening, as the rivers in Colorado are plentiful with trout.

Few things feel quite as rewarding as catching your own dinner. Colorado's history is richer and deeper than the pre-packaged and preserved foods in the grocery stores today. The region that includes Colorado was inhabited by Native Americans for millenia, some artifacts dating from nearly 11000 BC. Colorado preserves and respects the rich history of the ancestors and generations that lived the land before them, when the land was part of living and not a commodity to own and make profit.

Colorado has countless museums of all types, serving as a sort of storage of our history and displaying the priceless artifacts and lessons humanity has learned along the way.

Sprinkled throughout the Colorado mountains are quaint, small town communities like Basalt, Colorado. Charcoal and the growing demand for fuel fed the development of towns like this and secured their foundation into the modern day. The success of communities was not always certain and towns like Basalt preserve a little bit of Americana and the history of the railroad.

The Railraod was the iron horse that allowed settlers to relocate to Colorado and the railroad's success was catapulted by the Gold Rush in the late 1800's. The commerce brought by the railroad fated that some of the unlucky settlements that laid too far off the beaten path would become abandoned, as settlers relocated to towns incorportated into the Colorado Territory. For this reason, Colorado has many ghost towns, some of which are historical landmarks today. Others remain untouched and seldomly visted, except by the occasional bramble blowing through or outlaw seeking shelter.

Truly though, the days of outlaw refuge in a ghost town on the mountainside of Colorado are gone. Now, tour groups trek up and down the dirt roads that lead to the ghost towns near areas like Basalt and similar cities. However, refuge is still found in the isolation of a ghost town. Many homeowners buy a weekend or summer home in the ghost towns, removed from the hustle and bustle of urban and modern day Colorado.

The fate of one such town was not to be abandoned and forgotten, but to rise to fame, almost branded as a place of retreat or passageway to success. Aspen, Colorado symoblizes an upper-class, presitigious reputation. Having a vacation home and rubbing elbows with the rich and famous is something most Americans see in the movies. However, the travel industry has made it relatively inexpensive to vacation at a resort in Aspen. Buying a home in the pricey market is not necessary when annual vacationers could store their items in a StorageMart unit. These storage units are astonishingly cheap storage compared to paying for a home that would only be inhabited for a fraction of the year.

For all the things that Colorado represents, a tie to cultures and people from many centuries ago, a piece of our American heritage, the chance to live life to the fullest or get away for a weekend or a place we call home, The Centenial State will be around for many centuries to come and for future generations to explore and rediscover.
