I Love Lucy

Who doesn't know funny lady Lucille Ball?
I Love Lucy is a popular and influential American situation comedy, starring Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance and William Frawley. The black-and-white series originally ran from October 15, 1951 to May 6, 1957 on CBS. The show continued on for three more seasons with 13 one-hour specials, running from 1957 to 1960, known first as The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show and later in reruns as The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour.

I Love Lucy is still syndicated in dozens of languages across the world.

The show won five Emmy Awards and received numerous nominations. In 2002, it was ranked second on TV Guide's top-50 greatest shows, behind Seinfeld and ahead of The Honeymooners. In 2007, it was placed on Time magazine's unranked list of the 100 best TV shows. The same year, the Washington Post named it the second best TV rerun, attesting to its longevity and sustained popularity.

The Carol Burnett Show

Lasting 11 successful years starting in 1967 and ending in 1978 not without winning 25 Emmy Awards, 8 Golden Globe Awards and 3 People's Choice Awards.
My family just loved to laugh along with "The Carol Burnett Show" on television. I liked her as the clumsy, slow secretary to her boss played by Tim Conway. And then Vicki Lawrence was her Mama, and later had her own show called, "Mama's Family". I'll showcase that here, too! And don't forget Harvey Korman as Rhett Butler, while Carol was Scarlett in "Went With the Wind". Hilarious when she went "window" shopping and made her dress from the curtain! Check the DVD's out below. You won't be sorry!

Keeping Up Appearances With Hyacinth (Patricia Routledge)

British Sitcom~My Favorite

For social-climbing snob Hyacinth Bucket, always creating the right impression is vital. She goes to great lengths in trying to impress neighbors, friends and those of high status. Unfortunately her poor relations always turn up unexpectedly, causing Hyacinth embarrassment and preventing her from creating that all important perfect impression.

Keeping Up Appearances-DVD-Deck the Halls With Hyacinth

Keeping Up Appearances - Deck the Halls with Hyacinth

Amazon Price: $8.62 (as of 05/27/2012)Buy Now

This holiday-themed set begins with Hyacinth dressing poor Richard up as Father Christmas and ends with Hyacinth in the same outfit kissing Onslow under the mistletoe. How one gets from the first to last makes up "A Very Merry Hyacinth." Then it's time for "Sea Fever" aboard the QE2 in a double-episode that finds Hyacinth packing mounds of luggage and dressing "like a celebrity" only to miss the boat. When she and Richard finally catch up to the ship, they are astounded to see Onslow and Daisy aboard getting the royal treatment. One of the more hysterical episodes, it features Hyacinth and Richard in jogging outfits running through the ship and ends with Hyacinth and Onslow in an energetic jitterbug. In the remaining episodes Hyacinth decides to redo her kitchen, Daddy rents his bed out, and volunteers for the church play suffer a mysterious rash of illnesses when obliviously bossy Hyacinth takes over.

I LOVE Dick van Dyke! He is often forgotten on these lists, so thanks for including him!

I'm new to Squidoo, and haven't seen a whole lot here yet, but so far, even including the couple that I've done, this is absolutely, positively, my favorite lens. The classic Carol Burnett Show really deserves to be remembered for the hilarious comedy it provided for so many years, and its great to see what you have included here. Also, such classics that are almost forgotten, such as the Dick Van Dyke Show - where he was a comedian and not a pseudo cop, and the really classic Ma and Pa Kettle, are great to be remembered. I've done one lens on classic comedy myself - http://www.squidoo.com/The-Three-Stooges - and will be doing more.

I like Mama's Family. I love it when they play the board games and start fighting. I like the episode where Mama got a car too.

I liked Tim Conway and Harvey Corman skits on the Carol Burnett show too. They were always funny. I like the dentist skit best.
