Chapter 26 - Politics (Red vs. Blue)

During and after the 2004 Presidential elections, we are bombarded in the media about the Red States vs. Blue States phenomenon. I personally believe that this is a myth. There is no Red State/Blue State. Common Sense tells me that there is a divide among the population of voters. I live all my life in NY State, a Blue State, and yet I am a Conservative and I voted for GW Bush in the 2004 Election. I am considered a minority in my Westchester county environment, a suburb community of NYC. So what is the scope? To understand this, you need to look at a map of the electorate broken down by voting districts. This is the real Red vs. Blue divide.

that may be the true breakdown of red and blue,
But all the blue areas are the major cities of the US and accounts for much more of the population, so while it may appear to be the united states is "mostly red" in your fancy little picture, the underlying truth is those blue areas are populated by millions more than most of those red areas

Yeh but George Bush and Karl Rove stole the election of 2004. Voter suppression, rigged counts, hacked software, the list goes on. The BBC and CBC reported on the stealing as it happened. Read the book FOOLED AGAIN by Mark Crispin Miller, there is ample evidence.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out during the next election...
