Getting to Know the Holy Communion and the Necessary Communion Sets

Most people do not realize how important communion sets have become in today's world. Christian churches use these set of materials to help represent and at the same time share the love and body of Christ.

Even though the event of a Communion is important, there are still some people who are not familiar with the what and the how of Holy Communion.

The Holy Communion or Confirmation is representative of the time when Christ had his communion fellowships with his disciples. Most notable among these gatherings would be the Last Supper.

The sacrament of the Communion is also called the Lord's Supper or Eucharist. It is done as a way of "thanksgiving." It is representative of a Christian being able to hear, taste, touch, and receive the grace of the Lord through his son, Jesus.

All the elements in the Holy Communion actually represent something else. For instance, the main actors in the Communion would be the bread and the wine. The bread is used to represent Christ's body.

When the priest breaks the bread, this goes on to symbolize the fact that Jesus sacrificed his life to save humankind, by doing so he cleansed humanity from sin.

Communions actually saw a decline in practice at some point; however, today, the tradition has become an important part in every church celebration.

As for children, they can partake of the Communion usually at the ages of seven or eight. They go on to have a Confirmation during their teen years. The Parish priests are usually the ones who have a hand in determining whether a child is ready for Communion.

However, ultimately, that decision will come from the parent.

A Holy Communion has many elements, and thus, also entails plenty of necessary material and tools. There are many kinds of communion sets that are used by people in the clergy in different denominations.

As we know, having a Communion is not just limited to children, any person that wants to willingly accept Christ as their Savior can go and partake of the Communion. There are times when a Communion is required on the spot.

Because of this, portable communion sets are made available to people. People in clergy can carry these same sets as they travel and be able to use it.

Back in the day, communion sets were made from expensive silver and were never mass produced. A traditional set were composed of a chalice or cup, a paten, a cruet, and a pyx. All of these are important to the Communion.

For example, a pyx is a small round container that is used to store the Host during a Communion. A cruet is like a small bottle or flask, used to contain the wine representing the blood of Christ.

You also have the other tools like the paten, which is a small silver plate used to hold the bread. Finally, there is the chalice or the cup where the wine is poured into.

All of these things are important to a Holy Communion. This celebration is essential to people's lives as a Christian.

With the help of Communion sets, everyone can live a life under the grace of the Lord.

Having a Communion is not just limited to children, any person that wants to willingly accept Christ as their Savior can go and partake of the Communion.
