    Hi,

If your responders are looking for a forum where they can tap into all levels of experience they would be welcome to join the UK Ambulance Forum. Sorry to drop this in here but I couldn't find a 'Contact' section to ask privately in. Please feel free to zap if you feel it's inappropriate.

I've been a CFR for about three years now. Sometimes I'd love blue lights but I'm not trained in driving to that standard and I couldn't afford the insurance. We don't get much funding except for what the public give as donations, so the Unit couldn't either.

What I would like to see is CFRs equipped with entonox. The number of times I've been to patients in severe pain is simply untrue. All I can do is stand there and try to give some verbal comfort whilst waiting for the ambulance crew. I've been trained in entonox some time ago as a First Aider; it's not rocket science.

I have recently qualified as a CFR and am a member of a new CFR group in Tamworth Staffordshire. This cause can not be publicised, enough, we can make a difference so keep up the good work.

I am a doctor working with India's largest EMS organization. I teach CPR and Basic Life Support to both healthcare providers and the community.

Thank you for putting up this lens. You have stressed the importance of Community First Responders in an emergency.

    Hi,

Good article, puts the CFR's in a good light! I'm hoping to join Magpas myself, already been in the Red Cross. Just about your blue lights, I know paramedics etc are sometimes CFRs as well, so could they 'hypothetically' use blue lights etc on their cars if they are qualified? or is it again a case of insurance and group rules (Im not knoweldgeable on insurance, I am 16)

    Thanks

Bless you, the other volunteers and the genius who put this together. I am a 9-1-1 operator here in the States, and frequently am on the phone with a patient until the official ambulance arrives. I have heard them gasping, or worse, not making any noise at all, and have fervently wished that I could get trained help out there sooner. Your community is very fortunate to have all of you. A Salute from the States!

Hi Gordon. Thanks for the kind comments. I've had a quick look at where you are but surprisingly there does not appear to be a scheme. Gap in the market there if you're interested!

Andy, I am not a Squidoo Angel but at this moment in time, I truly wish that I were. This is a wonderfully put together lens on a subject surely of great importance to us all. I do live in the UK - and have done all my life - but have never before heard of the service you provide.

    I salute you.
