Connecticut Drivers Education Requirements
The law requires that teens have at least 20 hours of supervised behind-the-wheel preparation. A parent or stepparent, legal guardian, or the spouse of married applicants can do this training, as long as the spouse is at least 20 years old and has at least 4 years of licensed driving experience. At-home training should be done with the teacher researching the state's driving requirements as well. Teens in Connecticut must also complete eight hours of classroom training, 4 hours of which includes information on drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs.
Teens have to be at least 16 years old before they can get their learner's permit. This is a little older than the average age for a first-time permit holder, which in most states is between 15 years old and 15 years, 9 months old. This age requirement must be met in order to drive lawfully, and both proof of age and proof of learning are required before they can get their learner's permit.
