Contour Abs: Our experience with the ab belt
Recently my wife persuaded me to order a contour belt, we were always health conscious but because of work commitments we never got round to going to the gym etc, so we needed a way of keeping in shape at home, and ironically that night she saw an advertisement for the contour abs belt.
The contour abs belt was advertised as being $14.95, which we thought was very cheap considering what was on offer, despite what the advert said, it has now cost us $215, which we are rather disappointed about.

The Contour Abs Belt does work... a little.
At first I was highly skeptical that the EMS (Electronic Muscle Stimulation) belt would work, considering the problems with pricing. My wife and I used the abs belt daily and after a few weeks we were starting to see the results of using the belt. This made me curious and so I did some research into the abs belts. I sifted through various informative websites and forums and found mixed reviews over the belts. Although my greatest find was that Wikipedia recognizes it as successful method of training, and also states that EMS is FDA certified. From this information I formed the opinion that EMS machines do work, yet in practice many people use them in the wrong way or not for long enough, therefore people do not reap the benefits.
Unfortunately, the traditional saying of 'You pay what you get for' is true here, as many companies have started trying to produce very cheap abs belts to beat there competition, but they have forgotten that the fundamental thing that sells an abs belt is its technology, and with cheap prices, the affect of abs belts are minimal!
The FDA approved medical grade Ab Belt
While researching abs belts I came across the Flex Belt. The Flex belt had received some outstanding reviews and was mentioned numerous times on most fitness and health forums. They do not false advertise their product, which is the first positive, they offer a 60-day trial, and do not charge monthly. You are also able to physically feel and see the difference in quality between the flex belt and many other brands of abs belts. The Flex belt features medical standard pre-positioned gel pads that cushion your abdominal muscles. There is also a signals system installed in the belt, which sends a signal working all of your muscles, and not only the ones under the gel pads.
After two weeks my wife noticed significant results on my abs and I personally felt a lot stronger in that area and the most surprising thing is that we have only been using it for 30 minutes everyday. A cheaper alternative to the Flex Belt is the Contour Abs Belt, which I would also recommend as a cheap alternative, but be warned, the results are not so impressive.
If you decide that an Abs Belt is the right thing to help you get fit and healthy, then make an extra effort to get the one that you feel suits you best, as they are a financial commitment. You can order your Flex belt here: Official Flex Belt Website
If you make the decision that you want to try the contour abs then I suggest you visit the official store here or look on Ebay as many people wanting better results sell there old contour belts on there (which my wife and I also did): Click here to buy a contour belt on Ebay
I hope this information is of great help to you, and provides you enough details to go ahead and purchase your desired abs belt.

- I have the same question. I noticed that on the ebay sites, the flex belt requires batteries, however, on the comparison table of Contour vs flex belt it says that flex belt does not need batteries. Can someone please let me know if there are various versions of the flex belt.
Thank you
