Cool Old Stuff...

A Do It Yourself Lens, about Collecting Cool Old stuff!

I have been into collecting Cool stuff for quite a few years now (more than I care to remember) and honestly, I really find that the older stuff, in general, is WAY Cooler to collect, than new stuff. :-) Now I do have a few newer, Cool items too, mind you. Like the contents of my M.A. book shelf, and my Beloved whack of 1/64 scale HotWheels for instance... :-)

With that neat old stuff, it's like, in many cases at least, if my dear old Grandmother (God rest her soul) had something in her home which I remember from my when I was knee high to a grasshopper, like maybe some little knick-knacks that sat on the kitchen window ledge perhaps. Ya, like a couple of those neat little Nursery Rhyme style Tea Figurines, for instance. They're called Wades by most Collectors and there are quite a few said hoarders and Collectors out there. ;-)

Now, if one or two of those neat little porcelain units, just happens to still be around to-day and I see it, I'll grab it quick like! All that small Stuff, that was popular in their day and age, is what I dig to-day.

Just knowing that not much of that beautiful old stuff has survived to this wild day and age, is REALLY enough reason to have some of it, in my possession, for me anyway. :-)

Here's a few pictures of some of the stuff in my little collection. I'll be adding more as time goes by. Maybe some of these shots will bring back a memory or two for You as well?

Y'all know how a picture can easily be worth a thousand words, right? Memory joggin' is fun too. You might even remember something real neat that You USED to have, back when, like before the kids or when you were younger or before all those moves or whenever...

If you have a few spare minutes, you may even want to slip over to one of my little, Collectibles websites, here at Cool Collectibles to get a look at a few more of the little Treasures I like to collect... :-)

Thanx very much for stopping in here to-day too and I hope you bookmark this little Lens as well, so you can find your way back in here again, another day! ;-)

There are so many types of things to collect...

How does a person pick what they want to collect?

Old Money

Real Silver Coins

I LOVE old silver coins. American, or Canadian, it doesn't matter. That beautiful old stuff was real money, not at all like the junk they pawn off on us these days! In retrospect I still ask; Why did we let Them "steal" all our silver coins from Us, back in the 60's? I wish I would have and or could have, saved a few dimes and quarters a day back then. I now cherish every single silver coin I come across these days and they are very hard to come by anymore in loose change. Who do you know that has a few silver coins? Not many, I'll wager. :-)

Sleek, Super Slick. Silk...

One Hundred percent Fine Silk...

Here are some examples of the absolute finest shirts I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. Name me another material that will take care of you, like genuine 100% silk, I dare ya. :-)

I love silk because it is nice and warm when it's cold out, and surprisingly cool when it's warm out. :-) Also, 100% silk shirts are about as tough as nails too, and they last forever.

Oh, and don't forget that they're WAY lighter than any cotton shirt AND they take up almost NO space when you need to pack your gear light & small, to boot. A large plus for these shirts is the FEEL of them against Your skin. No other material has such a, how do I put it, sexy, comforting and caressing, FEEL on ANY body it is touched upon. :-)

... and finally, I know of NO OTHER shirt material that I would prefer over these very fine genuine Silk Men's Shirts, in ANY situation, anytime. Nuff said...

Just as a side note...

If any one of You out there would care to own some of these fine vintage specimens, I have a limited number currently available for any of You on a reader's Special, for a mere $15 each, which includes shipping, of course. I can fix You up! If you already know and dig the value of 100% Silk, then you can snag two of these beauties right NOW for only $25 and you can pay by personal cheque too! :-)

“Collecting things, keeps me focused. It's so easy to get out of focus these days...”

Little Metal Men...

Heavy Metal Kinder Figurines...

I don't know about YOU but there is something pretty neat and special to me about metals over plastics. Maybe just because it's been around for quite a while? Like, WAY before any kind of plastics were invented.

Or mayhaps it's because I'm definitely "old school" and I still really LOVE the substantially heavy heft, and feel, of an old silver dollar and a few quarters, in my hand to this very day?

Whatever it is, I like these semi-precious metals turned Kool Kinder Metal dudes, quite Alot! I treasure them because I have so few of them too. It's not quite a "collection" yet as such, as it has less than eight items altogether. But, I've still been keepin' an eye out fer 'em, in me travels... :-)

Fine Old Bone China - A Japanese Shelf Sitter...

A few more old coins...

I just Love old coins...

Old coins had real value. They were made with precious and semi-precious metals, unlike the junk they pawn off on us to-day.

Here's a shot of a few of my cooler Oldies. How rare must these old coins really be getting, I wonder? I know I'm plannin' on holding on to these old puppies for the next good little while, seeing as they are getting even more scarce every year...

Make sure that you check through your loose change on a daily or weekly basis. You never know what might turn up in there. ;-)
