Angular Cheilitis or cracked corners of the mouth can be caused by several different things, but the most common cause is saliva build up at the corners of the mouth. Moisture can accumulate in the corners of the mouth for several reasons:

How to tell if you have Angular Cheilitis:

1. If you have angry-looking cracks or fissures in the corners of your mouth you could possibly have the affliction.

2. There is also redness and swelling accompanying the raw splits at your mouth corners.

3. The corners of your mouth will be sore and tender.

4. Sores or ulcers may also develop in the area. These sores crust over but reopen when you open your mouth to eat or talk.

5. The nasty-looking splits may start to bleed or even release pus necessitating quick action to halt the progress of the painful and embarrassing condition.
