ESTHETICIAN-

An esthetician includes the study of skin care, such as facials, microdermabrasion, hair removal, cosmetic make-up services and other services with advanced training and under a doctors supervision, such as chemical peels.

HAIR STYLIST-

A hair stylist or Barber specializes in hair styling which includes cutting and chemical services such as color, perms, relaxers and texturizers as well as restorative treatments.

MANICURIST-

Specializing in hand and nail treatment, a Professional manicurist is licensed and will follow regulations as sanitation is a serious concern when doing manicures. When treatments are performed on the feet and toenails it is known as a pedicure.

NAIL TECHNICIAN-

A nail tech is trained in nail care as well as manicures, pedicures, nail wraps etc. They also specialize in nail art form including fake nails such as acrylic and gel nails. Although they do not treat nail disease a trained professional nail tech can identify problems such as nail irregularities and diseases.

BEAUTY THERAPIST-

A beauty therapist covers a range of services such as massage, skin care, make-up application, hair removal and eyebrow/eyelash tinting. Beauty therapists may also perform treatments such as non surgical face lifts.

ELECTROLOGIST-

An electrologist offers permanent hair removal using an electrolysis machine.

In order to become a licensed, professional Cosmetologist in any specific area, you will of course need to attend Cosmetology School.

Choosing a school will depend on which cosmetic service you want to specialize in. When looking for a school here are a few things to keep in mind;

*look for schools that are accredited
*length of class, schedule, curriculum
*qualifications of class instructors
