Cover Letter For Resume

Informative article on how to write a great Cover Letter

In the Cover Letter For Resume, if you do not think that you need a Cover Letter then think again!

Not having a Cover Letter could jeopardize you in getting that all important job interview. In today's economy you for sure do not want to run any risks. When hiring managers have to go through tones of resumes and further have to decide on how your skills and abilities match up to the job posting, this takes a lot of time and effort on the part of the hiring manager. Those that have Cover Letters for their Resumes could very well bump you out of the short list that will get interviewed.

The purpose of the Cover Letter is to accurately describe how your skills and abilities match up to that of the job listing or the requirements for position as set by the company.
Typically you start off by listing you r name and address and the companies name and address at the top of the letter along with the date. Next you should have a subject line that has the name of the position listed, their job reference number, along with where you learned about the job (i.e. Monster.com). Failing to do this may disqualify you from you resume being considered. Reason being this is a test to see if you are following instructions as they will sometime list this requirement, also they could be checking if you have attention to detail skills?

Your goal should be to match up to 85% of the requirements in the job posting to your skills and abilities. You have to make the marriage of these skills and abilities to the job posting. If there are too many in the posting then try to match up the most critical skills that they are seeking. When the hiring manager looks at your Cover Letter For Resume, they will have their questions answered for them. This is powerful!

In the conclusion of your letter you want to thank them for taking the time to review your skills and abilities. You also want to express that you look forward to meeting with them at their earliest convenience to discuss the further possibilities with their organization.
