Crayola Crayon Wrappers For a Decorative Flower Pot

This lens will describe step by step how to make a Crayola Crayon Flower Pot. This task is for all ages. Although it can be a bit messy, it can be fun. All sizes of flower pots can be used. It does not even have to be used as a flower pot. You can store crayons in it, you can give it as a gift basked, you can put odds and ends in it. Remember there is no right or wrong way. This is your pot. No two will ever be the same so be proud of yours. Change the paints to what ever colour you want, make patterns, it is endless!

What Is The Point of This?

What will makeing this teach me?

The object of this is to give an idea of
  • how to reuse old materials that can be broken

  • how to decorate up a flower pot

  • How to make a craft and realize there is no right or wrong way

  • Teach that every flower pot made will be different and there are no rules

  • Realize in this - it does not have to be perfect - there IS no perfect so whatever you do is right!

  • Have fun doing this!

Crayola Crayons

Wow Crayola Crayons have really changed the way they are packaged and look. When i was a kid, I had a box of 128 in them with 4 small packs inside.. and it had a crayon sharpener in the back (but it rarely worked or was too messy)

For now, separate the Crayon wrapper from the Crayon. Here, I had to use a knife.. do whatever you need to - tear, cut, whatever. There is no right or wrong way. Each is unique and different.

Separating the Crayon aWrapper From the Crayon

The next step will consist of gathering the Mod Podge and the Flower Pot

Mod Podge and Flower Pot

  • Wash the flower pot inside and out real well with a dish washing liquid

  • Seal the inside with a spray sealer, let dry

  • Now, take the Mod Podge and sticky the crayon wrapper and then place randomly or in a pattern on the flower pot.

Another way to do it would be to tear the wrappers into many pieces and make them smaller, or use tissue, wrapping paper, photos, newspaper the same way.

  • Cover the finish with a light coat of Mod Podge and let Dry

Crayon Flower Pot - Almost Done

  • Paint the rim and or the inside of the pot with a colour to Match a crayon

Crayon Flower Pot - Finish

  • Finally, spray the flower pot with a spray sealer inside again and out lightly..

Now add soil and seeds or a plant!

Thank you BevsPaper! I have had a lot of fun with it and different alternatives. Now, I have bought a ton of seeds and I am going to cover different pots with different seeds! [in reply to BevsPaper]
