Boost Your Creativity NOW

Ranked #25,318 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #518,481 overall

Your source of creativity goodness

You are a creative person. Yes, you!!! All of us are.

We were born with overflowing creativity. As children we were imaginative and tremendously innovative, but somewhere along the way we had suppressed our creative selves.

Stress, criticism, preconceptions and other internal and external inhibiting forces have intimidated our inner creative child and tucked it deep inside us.

having said that, I do have a secret to reveal to you: our creative child is still there, smoldering inside and waiting to be unleashed.

This is your chance to release your inner child and watch your creativity resurfaces and oozes.

5 Ways To Boost Your Creativity

An helpful guide to keep your imagination and innovation going

  1. Be Alert. One of the main characteristics of creative children is their passion towards life. They are going about life with open eyes and attentive ears and are enthusiastic about everything life has to offer. Children are paying close attention to all the little things that adults tend to ignore. Regain your enthusiasm and try to capture life constantly and actively. Strive to enjoy the journey rather than to achieve a certain goal. Pay attention: listen to the birds twittering every day, watch the flowers bloom in the spring and the leaves change color in the fall. Little by little these small observation will inspire you and spark creative ideas and thoughts in you.

  2. Get Surrounded by Visual Stimuli. You can incite your creativity with visual incentives. Surrounding yourself with visually appealing images can bring out your own creativity and help on days you can't seem to find your muses. Create an "inspiration well". Capture a color combination that you like with your camera or create color swatches with colored pencils. Search for visually appealing images on Google, Flickr, or look for videos on YouTube. Collect magazine adds and articles that visually appeal to you - you don't necessarily need to find them on design and art magazines, you just need to open your eyes.

  3. Read. I cannot emphasize enough how important reading is to our creativity, regardless whether our creativity is expressed in our writing or painting or in making bronze sculptors. Fiction can do wonders in expanding our imagination and creative boundaries. Non-fiction is essential as well, for updating and evolving in our niche. So go ahead, read books, e-books, web-articles. Subscribe to magazines and blogs dealing with your niche. Sign up for newsletters on creativity. Keep on reading!

  4. Give Yourself A Treat. Two of the main obstacles to creativity are the stress and hardships of day-to-day life. We constantly criticize and prevent ourselves from slowing down and catching up. Treating ourselves to a nice walk in the fresh air, a special meal or just a few minutes of serenity on a busy day will destress and rejuvenate us. Eventually, we will allow ourselves to experiment and to learn without bailing out after the first failed attempt at something new.

  5. Practice. Like any other thing in life, also in creativity - practice makes perfect. Try to make something creative everyday. Keep on writing or painting or knitting and try new techniques. Experiment with new mediums. Keep the creative juices flowing, so you won't run dry... However, be careful not to refer to your creative endeavors as a chore or it will quickly become as unwelcome in your life as throwing out the garbage or washing the dishes. Don't forget that your number one goal is to enjoy the ride.
