Thanks for the refresher, i remember cross stitching in school - with the right pattern & colors it can be a work of art worthy of hanging on any wall.

That little mouse is too cute for words!
I'm crazy about cross stitch, but don't have enough time to work on anything between being a full time employee outside the house and a mommy to a toddler at home.

I did a lot of cross stitch years ago in my thirties. I have a large framed piece I did of oriental musicians in my living room that was 22 stitches to the inch. I still love it. I even traced the floral pattern off my couch and put it on graph paper to use as a pattern to make a matching cross stitch throw pillow. You did a great job on instructing people on how to do cross stitch.
  • Mia-Mia Jan 12, 2012 @ 4:24 pm | delete
An excellent tutorial. I haven't cross-stitched in years. You've made me miss cross-stitching. Great lens.
  • vanidiana Jan 12, 2012 @ 9:00 am | delete
Nice lens. I once tried cross stitching when I was in mid grade school. It really needs patience to get it done perfectly.

Well, I"m not a cross stitcher myself, but my wife does it.

This is a wonderful post! I really enjoy cross-stitching, so it's great to read a post from someone who seems to enjoy it as much as I do! I think that you explained everything very clearly and gave much respect to cross-stitching! :-)

My Grandmother taught me how to cross stitch. Have not done it in a while but, it is fun and so much satisfaction with the finished work.

I've been cross stitching since 1980. I taught all 3 of my daughters and a few friends to xstitch. American women and needlework done by hand is not a common thing these days. People are always impressed with finished projects and they're so curious when they see me in action, wondering how I have the patience to count all those little squares. lol. Happy stitching. Great lense.

It's been a very long time since I worked cross stitch! I always had trouble moving from row to row in order to keep the back of my work neat and going in one direction. My daughter used to laugh at me. She couldn't figure out how I could get mixed up and turned around.
  • skiesgreen Jan 9, 2012 @ 10:00 pm | delete
Love this lens. Did my first cross stitch embroidery with my autie who died when I was 5. Kept it until someone recently took it away and now it is lost. *Blessed* and featured on Blessings by Skiesgreen 2012. Hugs

Beautiful page all about cross stitching. This is something my eight year old would love to do.
  • TravelingRae Jan 9, 2012 @ 12:44 pm | delete
I love stitching projects that will complement my home. I completed one last year that had all the colours in my home(a small RV), plus my china pattern (http://travelswithmiranda.uskeba.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/x-stitch.jpg) that I hung in my living room. Now, I'm working on a set of two complementary ones that will hang in the bathroom. I find cross-stitching to be very soothing. I do it while watching television.

Now this is an excellent tutorial on how to cross stitch. I sure hop to get to doing cross stitch again some day but its hard to do while on the computer. Nicely done.
  • DinaDLG Apr 25, 2011 @ 10:32 pm | delete
I remember the first time I did a counted cross stitch instead of the printed pattern that my mother had always gotten me. I felt quite intelligent as I worked it out and it came out actually in the middle of the cloth! It was something easy but not a starter kit, it was about 15 years ago. And now I have hundreds of patterns and kits I'll never get to but can't stop buying!

Cool lens. I love to cross stitch. One of my favorites is from Joyful Expressions listed on my Name Blessings lens. My favorite is the His Name Is Jesus cross stitch. I've probably done it 10 times (including once in Spanish now). :)

Fabulous lens! My first attempt, I got in way over my head! Still working on it 3 years later..now that I have glasses I might be able to work a bit more easily! Maybe put that one away and start with something small and simple.....

I love to cross stitch, but when I try the bigger projects I mess them up. I'm not patient enough to count and counting is a vital part of it.
