Kobe Bryant Rookie Card
A Kobe Bryant Rookie Card could be a great investment.
Imagine if you had a Michael Jordan Rookie Card today. Back in the 80's you could have bought it for a fraction of the price it has escalated to. Now is the time to invest in Kobe Bryant. Buy one for your grandchild now and he will have a good start when he is leaving college.

In these long races the drivers for the most part are quite content just to lap the track and only begin racing when there are about 50 laps left.
Here is my solution that I would love to see NASCAR try out. On a given Sunday at a given track they should run FOUR 50 lap races. Have no more than twenty minutes between each race. Any car that is not able to start a race will not be allowed to jump in, they must wait for the next race.
Allocate the points at the end of each race exactly as they are now.
What is your solution for long boring races?

I have spent my entire sports life living from one pilgrimage to another. When I went to Wembley Stadium for an international soccer match I knew it would be my one and only visit to that famed site. The same goes for the Bernabeau in Madrid or the Maracana in Brazil. I always sit back and wait for the crowd to disperse. In my mind I see the ghosts of great players of times long gone. A Pele or a George Best goal at Wembley. Puskas with his incredible power, Lev Yashin taking a quick pull from a cigarette when there was a lull in the play.
In Croke Park I still see Eddie Keher scoring some incredible points.
At Aintree I see Red Rum winning the Grand National.
At Madison Square Garden I see Larry Johnson's four point play and Frazier sit Ali on his ass.
The list goes on. I treasure those minutes I sit alone in the stands after an event. I would never, ever think of leaving early. Even when my team loses I can appreciate the opposition. I know how lucky I have been to see Bird or Jordan, or Pierce.
Great memories that I treasure. I don't want angry feelings of frustration as I leave a venue early just because my team or my driver, or my horse has lost. To do so would make me the loser.

Magic Johnson-Larry Bird..OR..Kobe Bryant-Paul Pierce
Kobe has history, he has rings, titles, whatever, but that is Kobe, not the present Lakers team.
This Boston is a new team, and not meaning to offend anyone, they have won nothing yet.
For Magic and Bird it was all about their teams, never about them. Their teams achieved greatness.
Can the Lakers and Boston go on to greatness? Maybe, but for now these two TEAMS have achieved very little.

Jackie Mitchell
The Lookouts pitcher struck out two of the greatest hitters in baseball history, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, in succession. Imagine any pitcher today striking out two hitters of that caliber in succession with only seven pitches.
The pitcher was Jackie Mitchell. Ever hear the name? Would you be surprised to hear that Jackie Mitchell was only 17 years old? Oh, something else, Jackie Mitchell was a girl.
A few days after striking out Ruth and Gehrig the baseball Commissioner voided Mitchell's contract saying baseball was too strenous for females.
I recently saw a tribute to Mitchell and it got me thinking. Would a girl make it in the MLB today? I honestly doubt if a girl would be successful as a pitcher but there are many batters who are not capable of hitting home runs. Frequently brain triumphs over brawn so I would have no problem with having the right girl on my team.
What about other sports? Could a girl play in the NBA? I say an emphatic yes. One of my all time basketball heroes is Muggsy Bogues. He was only 5' 3" but he was brilliantly successful. I have thought for some time that players of the caliber of Lisa Leslie or Cheryl Miller would easily have fit into an NBA team and contributed to that team's success.
What do you think? Is there room for girls in a man's world?
