Crow Pictures and Behaviour (selected) for You!

This lens is all about how crows look and behave around us.

Crows are probably a most misunderstood bird in our society. Though it's not so special because it's all around us, yet so special because it represents man's presence and civilisation.

Hope you enjoy the various forms i've seen of this bird. Enjoy! YES, I HAVE TAKEN ALL THESE SHOTS! They are taken on my Canon-XSi with a 17-85 lens.

The Crow and the Sky!

How do crows behave in the skies...take a look. Look at the intent in its eyes..the far away look. obviously there's lots of programming in its intent and its smooth sailing and so...so much in control of what's happening below. Truly free!

Locked in Motion!

It was fun to take this shot....it was one of those day's which made me run up to my terrace......and i found hundreds of these crows flying around, quite animated......i guess the cause was a fledling crow, unable to fly and probably hurt by a larger bird.....

By the Raging clouds!

Crows rarely glide...but i always get a feeling that they sense the real environs when they fly....the clouds look ominous and the really...really black crow gives it the stelthy image..it may have.

Great intent!

Here's another example of the stelthy image it creates for me, but of course , its not as impressive as the following photograph where it looks like those stelth bombers the US Air force is known for...i hope i'm right!

Stealth......not a bomber!

Halting!

This was such fun! This crow really stopped in its tracks! Poor guy, he would have been shocked by me with this black camera on a terrace pointing at him, maybe ominously...Hee Hee...it stopped him in his tracks....cruel isn't it,,,,,,though i did not mean to be so!

Lovely Wings!

I should have given a much more closer definition of the wings for you.....as in the introductory photo....but this crow to me is so majestic in its countenance...She's truly a marvelous creation of God.....

Long...Wings..er hands!

Enjoy a Swing!

Swishing Through!

Crow Face!

and then there is 'karimbi'.

Karimbi is a Good old friend and she's waiting for me. 'Karimbi' in the South Indian language, Malayalam is a cute expression for 'the black one' normally a friendly adjective for a young girl. 'Karimbi' because of its reference to color, can also be in its racial derogatory form and hence may not be appropriately used within a family, for example.

This shot is part of an original photograph with 4-5 crows sitting on a branch, seen from top down by a bridge in Chennai. The climate was was moody and these crows were as usual pensive, as if waiting for something to happen.

Of course, seeing me they flew away...across the river. I'm happy anyway that i captured this Raven waiting for her loved one.....

Intent?

Crows are so suspicious! They are clever, full of adrenaline and as i said ever suspicious! I caught this guy looking at me while he was watching a fish vendor down below....with his basket full of the choicest fish.

The ladies were arguing and negotiating the price with the vendor and this crow was waiting for its chance to pounce on the pieces or even a whole fish, when i came into the picture with my camera.......

The look shows curiousity, searching for my intent, while being fully aware of the other crows around waiting for their chance, their turn and the stone which is usually thrown by the fishy guy......

Crows twist their head sideways and upwards as if listening intently...but i'm happy that i got this candid one......

It was great to write this too....so you see...this picture too says a thousand stories.....thank you for reading!

A Peek!

Cheeky look isn't it......This is my private area...why do you intrude is the look in his eyes....this was another crow waiting around the fish...

Curious Fellow!

I saw this guy looking at a fish vendor down below! I guess he's looking at me too. This shot is the full profile of the crow described earlier...

Another Peek!

I'm Thirsty!

Real Claws!

I like chicken legs!

Hiding by the flowers!

....and watching the butterfly!

It's time to be Pensive!

Let me Fly to my Destination!

Flap...Flap....it's a Long Day!

Not to worry...i'm with a friend....Bye

Who took these Crow Photos?

Yes!! They are taken by me on a Canon 450, with a 17-85 Canon Lens.

The Angry Raven!

This raven took off in anger on a cool rainy day.

The had this youngish looking raven singing her morose song late into the evening, when i chanced on it....i took those snaps of the innocent caawing of this bird. I was also fully aware of the kind of stories around it that it was not a good omen seeing it in one's day...and here am i taking photographs of it!

Suddently the raven took off and i was lucky to take this shot. Lo Behold, Zooming into it i saw the witchy eyes of this raven. It looks so eerie and scary and i thought it was my prized shot! I'm showcasing it on squidoo, not to scare you guys, but ot let you know that nothing has happened to me yet, as superstition may prophesize....

I hope to add the other shots of the Raven cawing away to all glory...sometime.

Enjoy!
