Why is the Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffee maker so popular?

The Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Coffeemaker

This is an incredibly popular coffeemaker, in fact I think it is the #1 selling drip coffee maker at the moment. The Cuisinart DCC-1200 gives you everything you need to make great coffee, wraps it in a lovely looking package and it is cheap too.

It should cost around 145 dollars which even at that price would make this a great machine, but you can often find it on sale - at the moment you can get 54% off which brings it down to just over $70 (check to see if the offer is still on here) which means it is a hard machine to beat on value and quality.

You get a permanent filter which means no messing around with a paper one every time (some people prefer the paper filters but I don't like the fact that if you forget to stock up on them then you can be left without your morning coffee, with a permanent one then you need to clean it, but at least you know you aren't going to be left high and dry one day). You also get an adjustable warming plate so you can keep the coffee at the temperature you like it, and you can program it to come on when you need it in the morning (the most important feature!). Finally if you remove the carafe during the brewing process then it pauses it for you so you can grab a cup, then pop it back in and it carries on.

The feedback on it is great with nearly 1000 reviews on Amazon at 4 or 5 stars, plus it looks great wrapped in brushed stainless steel, and that makes any splashes easy to clean off too.

So even at the full retail price this is a fantastic all round machine, but for anything less than $100 it is probably the best machine on the market in my opinion.

Who are Cuisinart?

Founded by Carl Sontheimer in 1971, Cuisinart is a brand of small kitchen appliances, perhaps best known for their food processor. The brand quickly took off, and became one of the top selling appliance brands in the United States. Even though the company had a great deal of success, in 1989 it filed for bankruptcy and was purchased by the Conair Corporation.

Quite possibly one reason for the brand experiencing great success was due to endorsements from Julia Child and James Beard. These culinary experts promoted the use of a food processor as a means to prepare healthy food, quickly and easily.

Even though the company experienced a bit of trouble, and is now under management from the Conair Corporation, the same fine products are still made today. Cuisinart continues to be a much respected name that is endorsed by culinary experts; today by Jacques Pepin and Hubert Keller.

While it is best known for its line of food processors, there is no other appliance company in the world that produces the number of small kitchen appliances as Cuisinart. The company is truly a "full service culinary resource" that is highly regarded amongst both home users and professional chefs. Today, in addition to the food processor, the company produces coffeemakers, espresso machines, tea kettles, cookware and bake ware, blenders, frozen yogurt/ice cream/sorbet makers, hand mixers, microwaves, pizza and brick ovens, stand mixers, waffle irons, bread makers, pressure cookers, deep fryers, water filtration systems, popcorn makers, and even wine cellars.

Cuisinart also holds its own with higher end appliance companies in the areas of innovation and design as well. Recent awards include: the 2009 Shape You 'Top Gear of the Year' Award for the "Vertical Rotisserie", the 2009 Chicago Athenaeum Green Good Design Award for its "GreenGourmet Cookware" line, and the 2009 Shape You 'Great Gear of the Year' Award for the "Rice-Plus Multi-Cooker".

Cuisinart products can be found in many types of kitchen specialty stores, as well as upscale department stores throughout North America. The company stands firmly behind the goal it had from the very beginning: helping consumers "savor the good life"!

Why do we love coffee so much?

Coffee. It seems to be just about everywhere, and just about everyone seems to enjoy it. It can be found in shopping malls, in every restaurant, in convenience stores, on college campuses, and on nearly every street corner. So why has this drink become so popular? Why do we love coffee so much?

Coffee has been consumed for generations, mostly in the morning as a little bit of a kick start to help get people up and moving and provide some energy to take on the day. In fact, coffee can really be considered to be the original "energy drink". Over the course of time, coffee has made its way off of the breakfast table and has shown up at many different times of the day. Many people now grab a steaming hot cup mid-afternoon for an extra pick-me-up. Coffee is also commonly enjoyed after dinner, with dessert, or even as a fuel source for people burning the midnight oil.

Of course, coffee now comes in many different flavors, served hot or iced, and can be caffeinated or decaffeinated. It can be sweetened, frothed, or even have cocoa added. With the growing number of coffee houses, and name brand coffee chains popping up people have started spending millions of dollars on all sorts of coffee drinks. This has started somewhat of a "coffee revolution" of sorts, with people of all ages and backgrounds, even those who never before enjoyed coffee, downing countless cups of this tasty beverage.

Aside from just having a delicious taste and providing a warm, cozy feeling with a bit of energy, coffee has become a social staple as well. How many times have you heard someone ask, "Would you like to meet over coffee?" Whether on a first date, conducting a business meeting, or meeting with a group of friends, coffee is a communal drink that creates a comfortable social setting to which just about anyone can relate.

So, why do we love coffee so much? There is no one simple answer to that question. If you were to randomly stop people on the street and ask this question you would be surprised by the varied and numerous responses you would receive. From the enticing, rich smell, with a good deal of wake up power, to the customized tastes drinkers can create, and everything in between, coffee is truly a drink that is both universal and personal.
