From Cute to Sexy - Bachelorette Gift Ideas
There come a day when you open your mailbox and receive two invitations: one for a wedding and the other for the bridal shower. Suddenly you are faced with the ultimate question: What should you get the soon-to-be-bride?
As is often the case, the wedding gift is easy to figure out, the bride and groom have made a registry of common items (plates, glasswear, towels, bedding, etc) and all you have to do is pick something in your price range. All of it tends to be rather impersonal, the gifts are not even opened within the first few days after the wedding, and it can be done in a matter of minutes. Not so with the Bachelorette Party.
A bachelorette party is much like a birthday party - the focus is on one person and they are a close friend. The evening is lighthearted, gifts are opened, and good times and laughs are shared by all. And yet, the party has a different flavor for it, it's not another year passing, it's a change in lifestyle. So what do you get the bride-to-be?
Porn for Women + "Lipstick"
Something to make her giggle and squiggle
When I discovered this combination a few years ago, I vowed that I would give this at the first bridal shower I attended. A good laugh is always healthy amidst the stress of a wedding and sometimes a girl needs a way to relax. Even if the lipstick vibrator is something she would not use, the item itself is amusing. Oh, and before anyone thinks I'm advertising something super scandalous, "Porn for Women" features photos of men doing household chores and saying things like "I made you tea, Chamomile is your favorite right?" I love it and leave it out in the open all the time.
The company keeps making new books as well. So if you want one that's more bride oriented, you ought to check out "Porn for the Bride."
Side note: if you would rather leave the vibrator out of the equation but like the gift idea itself, give the sequel to "Porn for Women" along with the original as a package
Secondary Side note: "Porn for Women" is not actual porn and is quite work safe. Just in case you were giving me weird looks like my friends do when I mention it to them.
For the Bedroom
Prices and Styles for all gifters
As many a woman knows, the stereotypical gift for a bridal shower or bachelorette party is one that consists of lace and satin and does not cover much. Before you take yourself to the nearest lingerie store, I offer some words of caution:Know your friend's size and her personal bedroom style before buying some sexy chemise. Many women are picky about what makes them sexy and you do want your gift to be appreciated. Also, beware the easily embarrassed bride.
Now, after that consideration I have a few options of ways to handle all those circumstances:

For the bride that you can shop and understand her needs, feel free to pick her up something from a lingerie store and get her a babydoll or a chemise that she can seduce her man with.

If you want something just as sexy but don't have a budget or feel comfortable buying something of that caliber, purchase garters or thigh high stockings.
Last, but not least, if buying something for use in the bedroom causes your cheeks to turn red, there's always the option of purchasing a nice robe (but make it a short one to add a bit of spice to it). It also solves the problem of not knowing the bride's exact dress size.

Here are a few sites I would recommend browsing for items like the ones featured above within a reasonable price range:
Victoria's Secret: Has some beautiful stuff at full ranges of the price spectrum. Don't forget to check clearance and check the bra (with size) to get some of the babydolls that are hidden in the bra section of clearance. Just a tip I figured out on accident, got some amazing pieces for extremely cheap.
Frederick's of Hollywood: Much like Victoria's Secret but tends to keep prices on the lower end.
Bare Necessities: It has some good stuff, less selection, but by far more conservative if you want something that does not redden cheeks as much.
Give the gift of Relaxation
She'll love you forever
If she is like any other bride out there, a wedding is not one of those things that makes her feel like she's found a zen moment. If anything, it's exactly the opposite. Brides are stressed. Brides are stressed about the wedding party, about the wedding favors, about which color of flowers will work with her dress, about losing weight, about gaining weight, about who sits where, about what food should be, about the layers on the cake; Brides are stressed about everything. If you can't see where this is going, I'll lay it out in simple terms: A bride will be extremely thankful for anything and everything that makes her job easier and relaxes her stress.
If you can afford it, I strongly recommend giving her (and maybe including her hubby) a trip to a spa for some nice R&R with a massage. If not, some other options might be some scented candles, bath salts, massage oil, and facial masks. Maybe offer up a girls night where the two of you can do each others nails and watch some calming movies while having warm tea and allowing a facial mask to dry.
From Cucumbers to Candles
Food is the way to a Man's Heart
So stir it up a little
As the old adage goes: food is the way to a man's heart. While the bride-to-be may have gotten herself a man, it doesn't mean that food should go out the window. In fact, it should be just as important as before with one slight change. As mentioned in the previous section, a bride is stressed. Having things that save her time or calm her down are always big plusses. Luckily, there are cookbooks that help with just those things.First off is "Bedroom Desserts," a book filled with some romantic suggestions, and most importantly, many dessert recipes ideas to end a meal right and get you in a relaxed mood with your partner.
Secondly, I would suggest a cookbook like the "Newlywed Cookbook" which features simple recipes that avoid being time consuming and are good for the beginner and the novice. No experience necessary! After the wedding the couple will have a lot more cooking supplies to try out, and this is a perfect way for them to start.
Similarly, cookbooks that are designed to make cooking happen quickly like "Rachael Ray's 30-Minute Cookbook" or "Pillsbury 30 Minute Meals" are great starts.
Playing it Safe
For a casual yet appreciated gift

1.Gift Baskets: They make gift baskets for EVERYTHING. Maybe you want to get her a basket with some wine, cheese and crackers and voila, here you go. Or perhaps a basket made for pampering the bride-to-be? Easy.
2. Tickets: Think she and her hubby would like an amusement park? Or what about seeing the latest broadway show? Maybe they're the sports fans...in any case, you can find it here.

Side note: I have featured my favorites from all of these retailers to the side. Just click the picture to be directed to the item.

Linens N Things: Has all types of frames and some beautiful albums. Just browse through to find the personality and the design that you want to give to your friend.
Amazon: A store that always has plenty to look through. You're guaranteed to find something there for any bride.
If all else fails, just go to your local department store and you are sure to find something.
4. Coffee/Tea: While it might sound strange, if you know what the bride likes as her daily pick-me-up, it's a great relaxation strategy for making sure her day starts in the right way.
