The Robo Chair: Just Let the Chair Do It!

A review of the Inada D-5 Robo Chair which has been a staple in the Inada line-up for many years. Voice response and forearm massage are just a couple of the features that set this massage chair apart from other chairs in the same class.

Review of the D-5 Robo Chair by Inada

The Inada HCP-D5 Robo Massage Chair can help relieve the tension after a hard day's work. Just sit back and relax while this amazing chair massages your feet, back, thighs, calves, forearms and hands.

Inada has perfected a three-dimensional mechanism to create the only massage device on the market that can push the rollers out or extract them back to give either a deep massage or a gentle massage. The massage chair rollers rotate similar to human wrists, allowing the device to imitate the movements of a professional massage therapist.

If you need a professional arm massage, you can't go wrong with the Robo Chair. The attachments for the arm massage can be removed from the arm rests if the look is a little too space age for you. But the massage that is given by the arm attachments is fantastic. It can be moved up the arm rest to massage the forearms or down the arm rest to massage the hands. It really has a wonderful hand massage...better than any other chair I have tested.

A professional massage consists of three basic components: the grip, the scoop and the knead. The chair's gripping feature gently grasps your muscles to massage them gently but vigorously, helping the blood to circulate through the muscles. The scoop feature helps release tension and soreness, while the kneading feature helps relieve all tension and stress.

The Robo Chair is designed to recreate the effects and feelings of a professional massage as accurately as possible. Besides the arm massagers on the arm rests the Robo Chair is like a bucket seat, to give the massage rollers access to every spot.

Shiatsu points, which lie in different spots on different people, are robotically sensed by the optical sensors developed by Inada. Before you begin your massage, position the chair until you are the most comfortable. Now relax. The Robo Chair will take a scan of your back and compare your back with 100 stored profiles. Your back will be matched to the closest profile in the records, and your customized massage will begin.

Just like a professional massage, the Robo Chair works on both the immediate problem areas and the areas that are connected to them. With five pre-programmed therapeutic sequences of fifteen minutes each, you can choose from full body relief, lower back tension, stiff shoulders, and morning or night time massages. The programming also allows you to adjust the massage until it achieves the level you need.

The Robo Chair also understands a set of voice commands so you can control the chair without having to move and interrupt your massage. The voice commands let you change massage programs, turn different features on and off, or sit upright and recline. If you prefer to use your remote, you can, but the chair is programmed so you don't have to even lift a finger to press a button. To keep your remote close at hand, the chair has a remote control holder. This is a pretty cool feature, really. I have to laugh when I think of the ultimate "guy chair"...a voice response microphone which allows the chair user to never have to lift a finger to get a massage!

The Inada HCP-D5 Robo Chair has been built for your comfort and enjoyment. This chair can help relieve your tired and aching muscles and should become a part of your every day routine. Once you've given it a try, the hard part will be getting out of the chair.

Inada has recently discontinued the D-5 massage chair because of the success of their new Sogno chair. It retailed for $5799 before they announced the disontinuing of the product, but now you can get one for $4299. Good time to buy...but only while stock lasts.
