Computer Technology (Not For Just The Geeks)

Computers have become an absolute necessity in today's modern world. Computers and their accessories are increasingly becoming more and more sophisticated each day. As technology advances, one can come across some new addition, almost every day. The pace at which technology is advancing is so amazing that we are barely able to catch up with one up gradation before it is obsolete. With such rapid developments, no wonder computer parts are also difficult to understand. One has to have a basic knowledge of these parts before using them or when purchasing them. Which is why a lot of individuals simply rather have a "professional" repair them. But in actuality DIY Computer Repairs are quite easy so long as you're willing to take that first step to learn.

DIY Computer Repairs (Why Should I?)

Build It. Fix It. Own It

It's quite simple. Technicians charge upwards of several hundred dollars to fix a machine, which is not including the cost of parts. When you can easily go to Amazon.com and pick up a starter guide on everything you need to know. Not to mention it seems they even started selling these nifty little tool kits that provide you with the tools needed to take everything that you need to apart. But aside from that, I would also recommend you find the manuals that came with your computer. They tend to outline what sort of parts are currently installed and if not, you can easily go to your manufacturers website and pull up a detailed schematic of its interior.
Most typical reasons people find it nessecary to tear apart their machine isn't because it's broken, but to upgrade it. DIY Computer Repairs do have a very important role in even saving you money. A lot of people see their computer as being outdated, so rather than toy with it, they buy a new thousand dollar machine. But quite simple a new video card (costing you around $60), possibly some more ram (1GB usually runs about $70) and you're good as new. Sure, there is a lot better and brighter things out there, but most people are simply looking for a machine to get them from point A to point B on the internet or do some work from the house.

Sites That Offer Inexpensive and Good Parts

Amazon - One of the easiest locations to find what you're looking for. Since they deal with other retailers as well, it's an all-in-one shopping location for guides all the way to video cards.

TigerDirect - These guys have everything. Mother boards, sound cards, RAM, etc. Out of all the places I've shopped from, they have very reasonable prices. Their shipping is pretty fast as well.

E-Bay - Everyone knows of these guys. Thousands of people out there are doing exactly what you're doing, so they have what you need. A lot of merchants E-Bay as well.

Conclusion (Why I Am Even Doing This)

A lot of people tend to over look the facts that repairing a machine isn't rocket science. You see your children or even grandchildren committing feats of untold perporsions and think it's magic. But in truth they simply took that step to understand and in today's world, knowing even a little bit about the computer goes a long way. My intentions with this site is to grow a a blog (which will eventually be linked on this page) with several guides on how to DIY computer repairs, which I am hoping you as the reader of this will comment on and even ask some questions on repairing machines, which I can either give the details to or provide information on where you can get the answers.
