How common pet care practices can endanger our cherished pets
In the early years of my veterinary career,I was a staunch believer in traditional veterinary medicine. It was a client, who cured her terminally ill dog using all natural home remedies, that first opened my eyes to the fact that traditional medicine was not the "end -all, cure-all" that I thought it was. In fact, many of the things I recommended to our clients could have actually been harming their pets!Scientific studies conducted in recent years have made it abundantly clear that the "recommendations" for proper pet care have substanial problems. Vaccines intended to protect our pets from disease have been found to cause cancer. The premuim pet foods we recommend contain chemicals and ingredients that cause a wide variety of trouble, from allergies to urinary problems, diabetes and immune system trouble. It is apparant that pet care has been streamlined and put into a "box" that fails to address the harm that we can cause to the animals that we love so much.
