DON'T DUMP PUPS AND DOGS ON ROADSIDE !

Ranked #8,881 in Pets & Animals, #225,403 overall

Dumped Pups and Dogs Usually Die Where Dumped!

Excuse me but I just don't understand the mindset of someone dumping pups on the roadside!!!
I am concerned that with the economy the way it is now there will be more of this going on. I am not unfeeling about the people in need today, but surely dumping your animals on the roadside is not the best for you or your pet ! I guess most people think "Somebody will pick them up and feed them."or "They will learn how to catch something out in the wild". If they don't get run over or if they don't get eaten by other "wild critters" they will starve and die of thirst ! We now have 8 of these unwanted or dumped darlings and are working with the local SPOT program to get them their shots, neutering, spaying, worming, photos, etc. to get them ready for their new homes. We just can't keep them all ! Many of the older animals that are dumped in the country join up with coyotes and breed and become a local gang that kill ranchers calves, country folks chickens, ducks, etc. and become a danger to small animals and people! Please don't dump your animals on the roadside !!

I love my pet because...

These abandoned dogs are so loyal and happy to have a home, plenty of food, nice fenced yard to be protected in, and get a ride in the back of the truck to the "little farm" where they get to chase birds and jump in the pond and chase frogs and each other. NO ONE dares come into our yard with out our permission. These are sweet natured dogs, but they LOVE to BARK when someone drives up to our house. They are all safely behind fences. They do love to intimadate the delivery guys! The dogs aren't the problem but our pet turkey is a great guard also! That is another story!

You tell 'em, Rose. I live at the end of a dead end road and get some may dumped dogs. Some become my family, some I find homes for and some I must take to the local Humane Society. I just don't understand it!

It's great that there are people out there like you to help these dogs that irresponsible people dump. Over the years I've adopted several dogs that were strays and they all were wonderful loving pets. It's hard to understand how anyone could have abandoned them.

Great. I had a pet pup someone dropped off somewhere. Almost starved but made a wonderful pet.

Congratulations on giving love and a new home to your extended (not to say HUGE) pet family. I don't have a dog, but I found my cat curled up under car when he was just a tiny baby, and obviously someone had just tossed him there. Thanks for raising people's awareness on this subject.
