Dachshunds or Nicknamed Doxie (US), Dackel or Teckel (GER, FR), wiener dog/hotdog (US), sausage dog (UK/US/AUS/NZ), Worshond, Weenie Dog (US) (S.A.). are playful and in some cases stubborn which tends to make them a challenge to train. If lefted alone too frequently they often whine and are prone to separation anxiety. Known for their devotion and loyalty to their owners, they often become standoffish towards strangers. Dachshunds are clever, to the point where they can break out of improperly made cage or figure out how to get their favorite blanket out of a basket.

Dachshund Colors
Did you know?
There are three coat varieties: smooth coat , long hair, and wire-hair. Their colors can be single, single with spots ( dappled) single colored with tan spots and piebald. Piebald is white with various shades of brown. The most common colors are red and black and tan. The reds have copper to deep rust colors, some have black hairs peppered along the back bringing out a burnished appearance. If a dachshund has one single spot of dapple, it is a dapple.Solid black and solid chocolate dachshunds are considered handsome, even though their colors are nonstandard,that is, the dogs are frowned upon within the US and Canada rings.
