Dachshund peeing in the house

I remember when we got our first Dachshund puppy. He was so adorable and cute; I could not wait to get him home. This tiny little sweetheart soon made himself at home by peeing on the floor. We laughed and scooped him up to show him the yard and over the next few days started potty training him.

However, we could not seem to be able to stop our Dachshund peeing in the house.

Both my husband and I grew up with dogs and remembered the housebreaking stage as being a challenge but soon mastered, so were surprised when our little one did not seem to be catching on.

We read many books and followed along but one minute he would pee outside then suddenly, we would spot our Dachshund peeing in the house again.

We found ourselves continually watching him and stressing when he wandered into another room. We stocked up on various Pee-B-Gone products and even purchased a carpet cleaner.

Seemed that he would be good for a day or part of a day and then we are watching a little Dachshund peeing in the house again!

The one thing we did learn from all those expensive Dachshund manuals is that Dachshunds are one of the hardest breeds to potty train.

It made us feel a little better but was not much help.

We followed a few simple guidelines and within no time, the days of our Dachshund peeing in the house were over! Yep just like that our little cute Dachshund was potty trained.

They may say Dachshund on the cover but they are really just dog potty training books. We all know that Dachshunds are different!
