A Word A Day Keeps Discouragement Away
It is available online or as a little booklet you can carry with you in your purse. And if you need it to be printed larger, there's a "large print" edition that is still small enough for your purse.
It is published daily and is only a few sentences in one paragraph, but it is full of spiritual wisdom and often is exactly the message that will help me that day. It's uncanny! It's always uplifting too!
It is non-denominational and appropriate for all ages. I have sent Daily Word to many people of many faiths, and all have thanked me profusely. The print editions have beautiful pictures too!
Other Unity Magazines and Services
Daily Word Magazine
Besides the Daily Word, Unity publishes another magazine that has more feature stories and articles and more beautiful pictures and heartwarming stories. It is not online, but the subscription price is very reasonable especially considering the uplift for your soul.
Unity also has a prayer request line that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. Someone is always praying, and you can call, write or email your prayer requests to have someone place your request in the consciousness of all the prayer volunteers for 30 days. If you call, someone will answer and be very soothing. I'v always felt better after calling. This service is free except your phone call charges.

Unity's Poet Laureate
James Dillet Freeman
James Dillet Freeman was the long time poet laureate of Unity which publishes Daily Word until his death in 2003. Almost every Daily Word magazine printed edition has at least one of his poems, often on the back cover. This is my favorite poem by James Dillet Freeman.Oneness
Search as I may, I cannot find
Where my body is and not my mind,
Is the flower not the vine as much as the root?
Are the branches less or more than the fruit?
Let any small leaf fall, the whole
Vine trembles. At the inmost soul
And center of life's being, none
Is less or more: we are all one.
Did You not say, Lord, You are the vine,
We are the branches, You are the wine!
To put on my humanity,
You had to share yourself with me;
I am the cup, and You are poured
In me, through me, over me, Lord.

- Hi Heather,
I clicked on several links on this page and typed in both the author's name and the book title, but received no information. Do you have any suggestions? Also, Richard Eaton appeared to have suddenly disappeared from the planet without a trace. The superb broadcasts, Our Daily message of Hope, were abruptly stopped and other than several rumors, no official information on his disposition was ever provided of which I am aware. Do you have any information? He touched and inspired many people with the broadcasts and a free printed copy of the daily broadcast was available upon request. "Work Wonders from Within Yourself" a classic by any definition, sold for $4.00. Wish I had bought 100!
Thanks, and thank you for this site.
Ronald

- There are used copies available at Amazon. If you click on a link above, or if you there yourself and type in Work Wonders Within, you can find it.
You might also try Half.com, and ebay to find it cheaper. Good luck. It might be at your library too.:) As you know, it is out of print.

- I have a couple of inspirational books that I reach for whenever I'm feeling low. Reading a message of hope and happiness makes all the difference in the world. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't start my day out with a prayer.
Thanks for sharing

- I do love my Daily Word - the message I need to hear seems to always arrive at exactly the right time. I have been reading Daily Word since the 1980's and have found it to be a treasure. Beautiful lens. James Dillet Freeman's poetry touches my soul.
