Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Car Placed in Motorsports Hall of Fame

What a mess.

The International Motorsports Hall of Fame Museum at the Talladega Superspeedway announced that they had a rare Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Car on display. At least, the museum thought it was one of his cars.

Was the car a winning Dale Earnhardt Sr. car or not? Better, yet, IS it THE car that Dale drove to his first Talladega win?

If is was, then it is "rare". If it is not, then it is "stick a fork in it"; it is done.

Look at the pictures below; compare the cars and see if you can see a problem.

Then read the Birmingham News articles that follow.

(the photo of the car is from the News photographer, B. Troncale)

Even I could see it was not the original car by a long-shot!

Rare Car Fiasco!

Wednesday, July 9, 2008 Birmingham News

Supposedly the International Motorsports Hall of Fame at Talladega Superspeedway obtained a car that officials believed was driven by Dale, Sr. in his first win at the track in 1983.

Below are the links to the First Bham News story and the 2nd Article which informs readers that the museum was wrong.

Yes, The Intimidator did drive the car that is now in the museum, but it is not the one he drove to his 1st Talladega Victiory in 1983.

Hey y'all, the Hall of Fame is a really neat place to visit. West of Atlanta and east of Birmingham. Kinda in the middle of the two cities on I-20.

I visited there a few years ago with a sports car club from Birmingham. The museum is well worth your time!
