What is Damanhur?

As stated on their website: Damanhur has been awarded by the United Nations as a model for a sustainable future. Damanhur is an eco-society based upon ethical and spiritual values. Damanhur promotes a culture of peace and balanced development through solidarity, voluntary work, respect for the environment, art and social and political commitment.

A New Discovery For Me

How could I not have known?

I just found out about this fascinating place/concept/philosophy. It is amazing to me that I only just heard of this, as it has been viable since the 1970's, and growing ever since.

Damanhur is an intentional community that at the moment has about 600 members. It's members are working toward world peace, spirituality, food sustainability, they even coin their own money, called creditos. Damanhur hosts visitors for short or long stays, offering anything from guided tours, to seminars, to three year long courses of study at the Olami University.

Visitors may come for a day to meditate in the Temple of Humankind or come for a more intensive course of study. (See link below to Olami University).

Damanhur has been receiving worldwide recognition as a society of peaceful, thoughtful individuals working together with intention for the common good.
