Dance With Angels
By Christianna Garrett-Martin
If could be, for just one hour
a fairy wing, a budding flower.
A moons eclipse, the total power
My life would seem worthwhile.
And if I walked into the sea.
Swam with a mermaid, wild and free.
Danced with the angels, heavenly.
My life would seem worthwhile.
And If by chance, a child I'd see,
reciting rhymes of poetry
With voice so pure, and words so free.
My life would seem worthwhile.
And if some day, when walking by
A branch of thorns, gainst murky sky
To tear my flesh, for blood to flow.
For all to see, and me to know.
Sweet pain I suffer willingly
To make a better man of me.
To give me courage in this life.
Sustain me. in this dreadful strife.
If I could travel onto mars.
And linger - whilst I play with stars
Slide down the milky way with glee.
Life's force twixt man eternally.
If I could be, for just one hour
A prophet with celestial power
A helmsman fit for troubled sea
An injured sparrow in the tree.
A warloch in a wizards trance
A ballerina's poignant dance
A fatal car crash tragedy
A minstrel boy in comedy.
A badger caught within a trap
A villain on a deadly rap
A beauty with a scar so fine.
A suicide on railway line.
A mourning mother, for her child
A feral cat, un-tamed and wild
A miser with a ragged coat
A communist with deadly vote.
A person starving for their life
A spinster, never been a wife
A robber with an empty gun.
A desperate fox upon the run.
If I could be, for just one hour
A looking glass with magic power.
To rid the world of evil things
To grant me power, give me wings.
I'd swoop and fly beneath the clouds
Grant life eternal to the crowds
Sustain and home Gods given race
Fling ire and flame in adversities face.
If I could be, for just one hour
A person with this magic power
To make it happen
Make you smile
My life would seem worthwhile...

- Your words left my mind and thoughts filled with so many images intertwined. I'm left feeling a little sad for some reason, or maybe just thoughtful of the world we live in. It would be wonderful to have some magic power, an escape, if even for a short time. Your writing is very beautiful. Thanks for sharing your work here.

- There is energy in beautiful words and images that connect all of us to the Light within. I sense a fellow traveler? Please see how I let that Light shine: http://www.squidoo.com/ebyway.

- This is beautiful! I agree with Kathy, it is "...sifting the soft with the harsh and cruel at times." Rightly named as well it felt like a "Dance With Angels." I will be going to find more of your work now. Thank You for dropping by my lens. :D That is how I found you.
