Dark Chocolate
There is nothing quite like the deep, rich flavor of fine dark chocolate. While dark chocolate is still not as common as white or milk chocolate, it is becoming more popular for both its taste and health benefits.
Dark chocolate comes in many forms including bars, chips, baking bars, frostings, truffles, hot cocoa and even mousse. Dark chocolate is different than milk or white chocolate in that it has a higher concentration of cocoa which is the same thing that gives dark chocolate its high antioxidant value.

Dark Chocolate Lowers Blood Pressure
Dr Dirk Taubert and his team of researchers at the University Of Cologne, Germany released a report in the August 27 edition of JAMA that provides evidence that eating dark chocolate can actually help to lower blood pressure. But they add, moderation is key saying that you do not want to go overboard and load up on extra calories. It was also found that when it comes to dark chocolate and blood pressure, the darker the chocolate, the better it is for your blood pressure. This is due to the natural plant phenols and flavonoids, which are powerful plant based antioxidants, which is found naturally in cocoa.

Dark Chocolate is Loaded With Antioxidants
It has been found that eating dark chocolate can help to neutralize the cell damaging free radicals. The high antioxidants are found only in dark chocolate, not milk chocolate. "Cocoa is rich in antioxidant flavonoids called flavanols, which include procyanidins, epicatechins, and catechins," explains Harold Schmitz, PhD, director of science at Mars, Inc. Studies have shown that people with high blood levels of flavonoids have lower risk of heart disease, lung cancer, prostate cancer, asthma, and type 2 diabetes. Green & Black Dark Chocolate
