Yamaha's design team, working with artist himself, chose Nouveau series lugs for this drum, which provide a quick release for rapid head changes mid-gig, and also have minimal contact with the shell itself in order to maximize the natural woody resonance of the drum. The snare drum's 14" x 5" form factor provides the versatility to crank it up tight for a penetrating backbeat, or to find a lower beefier tuning that will bring out more of the wood.
