David Bowie - A Man of Sound and Vision

"Don't you wonder sometimes
'Bout sound and vision

Blue, blue, electric blue
That's the colour of my room
Where I will live
Blue, blue"

Sound and Vision, that is exactly what David Bowie is all about and the man has certainly been gifted with both.

"Pale blinds drawn all day
Nothing to do, nothing to say
Blue, blue"

His songs, his beautiful voice, his artistic painting talent.  David Bowie has it all!

"I will sit right down, waiting for the gift of sound and vision
And I will sing, waiting for the gift of sound and vision
Drifting into my solitude, over my head

Don't you wonder sometimes
'Bout sound and vision "

"Lyrics from David Bowie's song, Sound and Vision"

Three Reasons I Love David Bowie

What I admire most about the Thin White Duke

1. David Bowie has been evolving and changing ever since he stepped out into the music world in the sixties.

2. His songs are as fresh sounding today as they were when they were first produced.

3. His gift of sound and vision.

Loving the Alien

David Bowie in Vanity Fair Magazine

According to an article in the Fashion Rocks supplement to this month's Vanity Fair Magazine, several fashion designers are loving the alien and incorporating looks from David Bowie's, The Man Who Fell to Earth, into their fashion designs this year.

Designer's Louis Vuitton and Dior Homme have both featured clothing styles from the movie on the runways, using male models, sporting bright red hair.

Grab a copy of the September 2007 issue to read the entire article.

David Bowie's Changes

My Life-Long Anthem

David Bowie's music and persona changed repeatedly throughout his astounding music career. As he grew and changed, I found myself maturing and changing right along with him. This song has meant different things to me at different times in my life. I consider David Bowie's music to be like a life-long, dependable friend (always there for me, when I needed it) and I consider this song to be my life-long anthem.

Changes
David Bowie

"I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't tell t hem to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Where's your shame
You've left us up to our necks in it
Time may change me
But you can't trace time

Strange fascination, fascinating me
Changes are taking the pace I'm going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Oh, look out you rock 'n rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Pretty soon you're gonna get a little older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can't trace time"

David Bowie is one of the biggest influences on our music. We constantly return to him for inspiration and he always delivers. He is always thinking outside the box.

David Bowie is both awesome and timeless. He's been one of my absolute favorite artists since my early teens. I remember driving around in my first car with tracks from "Aladdin Sane" and "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars" blasting as loud as my little speakers would play them. He's amazing. Nice lens.

Nice lens. I used to be a huge Bowie fan. Until Let's Dance came out. In high school I played "Future Legend" in the halls of my Catholic school. Some one asked me what it was and I told her it was Bowie and she said, "No it's not." I replied, "It's Bowie when he was good." I really haven't liked much of what he's done since Scary Monsters. That was 30 years ago...
