Legend
It wasn't until I started my research on this Lens that I actually discovered that David had died, on the 28th July 2006 .
How I missed this piece of tragic news I don't know. At the moment I'm going to hold back on what I was going to say about David and his writing, until I can string together something which does him and his work justice. If you have found this Lens then you probably know David's work and don't need me to tell you what a simply fantastic story teller he was. I deliberately avoided the word writer, because there are lots of writer, but story tellers of David's caliber are few and far between. If you have already read all of David's work, then do what I'm going to do read them all again. If you haven't yet read all his stories - lucky you, because they really don't come any better.
I never met the man, but his work has given me immense pleasure and I for one will miss his unique style of casting different shadows to different characters. As an avid reader of Sci Fi and fantasy literature the absence of the latest David Gemmell release from the shelves of my favorite book shops will be a constant reminder of a great loss.
Good luck on the other side mate and keep your powder dry.
This Lens will focus on his excellent Drenai Series, but I seriously recommend all his work to you
