Who is the Band Death Cab for Cutie?
Death Cab for Cutie started as a band in Bellingham, Washington in 1997. The group also goes by the names DCFC and Death Cab for short. Ben Gibbard, Christopher Walla, Nick Harmer, and Nathan Good were the original members, and only one of the four has changed permanently since the group's inception. The band began with songs that were popular for their mention of thing's in and around their locale, and increased in popularity due to popular reviews and largely word-of-mouth advertising.

Death Cab for Cutie Today!
Today, Death Cab for Cutie is comprised of originals Gibbard, Walla, and Harmer, as well as newbie Jason McGerr. Michael Schorr appeared with the group for a short time, replacing Nathan Good while the former took a sabbatical from the group. Each of the band members is pursuing success both with the group and on his own. Ben Gibbard has kept with his musical trends, and, aside from his DCFC work, works with a former band he was involved with and does solo work. Christopher Walla has enjoyed limited success with both group and solo work. The band is still very involved with internet music, and works to make sure that their music is available through that genre. They are awaiting release of their eighth album Narrow Stairs in May of 2008. iTunes is helping to keep their music popular, and the group will remain in the mix, so to speak, for many years to come.
