Go On A Debt Diet
Just like extra weight make your body unhealthy, extra debt makes you financially unhealthy.
Debt is a huge burden. Carrying it can lead to stress and other health problems. So dump your debt as soon as possible.
Credit Card Trap
How to get out alive.
Due to heavy marketing of student credit cards on college campuses many people get snagged by the debt trap EARLY in life. The whole notion of instant gratification is now ingrained in American culture.Once trapped it is extremely difficult to get out unscathed. At the very least most people have their credit reports scarred.
Going on a debt diet is extremely important and is the easiest way to remove yourself from the jaws of the debt trap.
There are many different approaches to debt reduction, you will have to pick the "debt diet" that is right for you and your situation.
If your debt isn't that bad yet try opening a new credit account that has a super low interest rate and transfer the balance of your other cards to it. Once your debt is consolidated pay it off as quickly as possible.
HINT: Call around and price shop on new cards. Play credit card issuers against one another to get the lowest possible rate.
If you are already in deep, I suggest you follow the advice of Dave Ramsey and start a debt snowball. You can find his books and videos at most local libraries if you cannot afford to buy them. They are a great investment however.

I would try debt snowballing before I would consolidate.

Consolidating your credit card debt is actually one of the smartest decisions you could ever make. Credit card debt consolidation is ideal for anyone who is looking to have better credit now, and in the future. Consolidation is very common these days, and it is actually a sure way to combine your debt and make sure that you never get yourself too far in credit card debt.
