Decorative Modern Throw Pillows

Decorative pillows. Not a topic one discusses frequently, but since getting started on CafePress, I must admit that I've become a bit of a junkie. CafePress has a cool pillow blank that you can customize with art, photographs, abstract designs, cool sayings and so much more! I've designed a few and ordered a few, and lusted after a few others. Turns out that one can never have enough pillows. Who knew?!

Do you want to add a splash of color or design to an otherwise boring sofa or chair? Are you passionate about a hobby, a sport, a craft or a particular breed of dog? Believe it or not, there are all kinds of accent pillows with all kinds of cool designs out there, and I'm going to track down some unique throw pillows and pull all the info together here for you!

This lens provides info on the coolest, most interesting, unique decorative throw pillow designs being produced today. We'll look at some great CafePress artists' unique pillow designs, as well as what places like Amazon are selling. We'll let you tell us about your favorite pillows, too!

I opened a CafePress store in November '08 after a job layoff left me with a little too much time on my hands. It's been waaayyyy too much fun taking photographs and creating digital art. These are some of my favorite creations to date. You can see all my throw pillow designs and nature images on my CafePress site. Yes, I had to sort through many pillows with silly sayings about beer and such, but amongst the pillows that are silly, poorly designed, or strange at best, a few really stood out. Remember earlier I mentioned pillows about hobbies, sports and crafts? Well here are five cool modern pillows that fit into that category. You can go to CafePress and search on a very specific topic and you'll likely find a pillow that speaks to your passion. Being an avid skier myself, one of the searches I ran was on "ski pillow." I found this awesome skier silhouette pillow below. I might just have to buy that one!

Modern Pet Pillows on CafePress

Are you a pet-lover? It seems that a lot of the best designers on CafePress are inspired by their four-legged friends. Strangely - this was the most difficult category for me to post on, as it was almost impossible to narrow down the vast selection of available dog and cat art. Note that many of these artists create art for many different breeds. So, if you love the style of the pug pillow below but have a different favorite breed, you can click on the artist/shop name (the little blue link) below, and check out their other stuff. You may just find what you're looking for. I was pretty impressed by the five pillows below - but let me know if you find one that's even more awesome, and I'll try to get it posted!

Modern Decorative Pillows on the Web

Okay. So now we've exhausted what CafePress has to offer (at least for all the categories I could think of.) What next? After finishing my CafePress search, I went to Google, and checked out all of the relevant pages I could find before my eyes went all buggy. There are some really, really nice pillows out there to be had! Some of them are quite a bit more pricey than the things you'll find on CafePress, but some of them are so fabulous that price may not be an issue. If you're truly looking for that perfect pillow and haven't found it yet, these are definitely some sites you want to visit!
