What Deepak Means To Me

The first self-help book i ever read was Conversations With God in which God is supposedly speaking to Neale Donald Walsch. And while that fascinated me i needed someone to explain the meaning of life to me in more scientific terms. Not that i don't believe God was talking to Neale Donald Walsch, in fact i read the whole serious more then once!

In the CWG series God tells Neale that there is a certain individual who speaks very clearly about spiritual matters named Deepak Chopra. So i decided to check him out. Soon i was addicted to reading Chopra. I loved how he took complicated spiritual matters and made it simple for anyone with an open mind to understand, without lying to people as some conservative pessimists would like you to believe.

I remember a chapter in one of his books, i think it is Life After Death, which was titled 'The Burden of Proof'. This sums up for me what Deepak is about. In a time when science clearly doesn't have all the answers and there is a desperate need for meaning in life he took the burden of proof upon himself. Fearless would be one of the best words i can use to describe him.

He shows an absolute disregard for fundamentalism, conservatism and right-wing hypocrisy, and i wouldn't have it any other way. He is not scared to make his opinion heard no matter what the cost. Having said this he does this with a certain grace, not making the matter a personal one. You will find Deepak being ridiculed in many circles, scientific, religious, political, etc.

Any circle where people are still holding onto concepts and ideas you will probably find him ridiculed. This is because he is beyond ideas and concepts, he doesn't even believe they exist. You see we are still a primitive species in spiritual terms, which makes us primitive, period. Someone like Deepak will have his critics because he is not scared to question the status quo or any ideology.

Just look through the ages at how all our greatest teachers have been ridiculed and disregarded. Jesus Christ being the first that comes to mind. In a time where there seems to be an ever increasing search for meaning Deepak is making a stand no matter what the cost. Therefor i respect him. But i don't only respect him, i love him. Growing up without a farther wasn't much fun, but having Deepak around was always a comfort.

My deepest love and respect goes out to Deepak...

The Wisdom of Uncertainty

One of Deepak's core teachings is called the wisdom of uncertainty. This simply means to embrace uncertainty because change is the nature of life. The tendency for us is to hold onto the past and the familiar which gives us a sense of security. This is a false security however because change is inevitable. Therefor its best to go with nature and step into the the field of all possibilities where the wisdom of uncertainty comes into play.

Well, not my favorite, but I like him a lot. Can't wait to read his new book on Jesus. I saw him talk about it on Chelsea Lately and he was a very good sport and funny, but yet got the message across.

I have always liked him but I do not believe in having a guru. Our wisdom is within not in another.

Creating Affluence: The A-to-Z Steps to a Richer Life (Chopra, Deepak)

Amazon Price: $8.76 (as of 07/06/2009)Buy Now

This is a very practical guide to creating affluence in every area of your life. Chopra suggests to read the whole book once and after that to start over and read 5 pages day. There is no need to consciously practice the ideas in this book, simply by holding the idea in your awareness and reading the book every day is enough for the ideas to become a part of your life. This makes it a practical alternative for all who lives busy modern lives and feel like they have very little time for spirituality and higher ideals in their life.

Material reality is a perception at best

Science has proven that material reality is not at all what we perceive it to be. The atom which is the building block of material reality turned out to be something like 99% empty space. The speed at which atoms vibrate is what makes objects appear solid. So in the end its all energy. This is made clear by Einstein's formula of e=mc2. If our senses was attuned to it we would see only a mass of energy vibrating at different speeds.

I am a fan of Chopra. I have and have read approximately 20 of his books. That means there are only 200 to 300 more I haven't read. Teasing, of course, but he is a prolific and thought provoking writer. I am also a member of the "Why Are We Here" Group, which is where I found your lens. 5 Stars.
