Ageless Body, Timeless Mind-Review

Despite the usual critics and scepticism i think Deepak Chopra does and an amazing job at dispelling the myth that we are meant to grow ugly and sick as the years go by. All the pioneers of the past was ridiculed in their time and was simply the price they had to pay for their vision. Ageless Body, Timeless Mind by Deepak Chopra is no exception.
In this classic Chopra shows how our bodies are essentially energy that lives in a universe of energy. Our bodies are consistently exchanging information and energy with its environment and does not live as a 'stone statue' that is separate from its environment. Instead the body is like a river, it appears to be always the same but in truth it is constantly changing.
This comparison of the our physical bodies with a river is the one things that stands out for me in this book. Science has shown that 99% of the cells of our bodies is replaced within one year. This means we have a new physical body every year. Then why do we age? Aging is caused by our belief in it. The power of the mind is well documented and it only makes sense that when we see everyone around us grow old that we would grow old ourselves.
Moreover aging is a very personal experience, no two individuals age in the same way. This is because we all have unique experiences and genes. We all metabolize time differently. Einstein has proven with his theory of relativity that time is a relative phenomenon. When we are in love time is very different from when we are sitting on a hot stove. The one is timeless and the other feels like it will never pass.
It is up to us how we want to metabolize time. People who lives very stressful lives tend to age faster and become sick more often then those who lives stress free lives. This is because we experience time much more intensely when we feel stress. Try to think of a time when you were very happy. Did you think about time? Did you wish for the moment to pass? No, you were probably so immersed in the moment that time never even entered your mind.
This is timeless mind, and when it is experienced we inherit an ageless body. Time can only affect us when it is experienced, it is up to us to decide whether we want to be the stone statue that decays with time or the river that is always the same yet always new.

In time people will start realizing what effect their psychology have on their aging and people will start living longer and longer.

Some Key Points To Consider
- There is no objective world independent of the observer.
- Our bodies are composed of energy and information
- Mind and body are inseparably one.
- The biochemistry of our body is a product of awareness.
- Perception is a learned phenomenon.
- Impulses of intelligence constantly create the body in new forms every second.
- Despite the appearance of being separate individuals, we are all connected to patterns of intelligence governing the cosmos.
- Time is not absolute. The underlying reality of all things is eternal, and what we call time is really quantified eternity.
- Everyone inhabits a reality of non-change lying beyond all change. The experience of this reality brings change under our control.
- We are not victims of aging, sickness, and death. These are part of the scenery, not the seer, who is immune to any form of change.

Are we doomed to grow old and senile or is there an alternative?

There is and alternative
dc64 says:
We create our reality, and people look around them and see others grow old, so they believe that is their destiny, therefore, that is the reality they create. If the collective consciousness of people began to create a different, better reality, they could see that heaven is spread out upon the Earth, and could live forever.
Chasov says:
Deepak Chopra is doomed to grow old and senile, I will forever remain young.

Ageless Body, Timeless Mind
Perception is everything. Quantum physics have now confirmed that the very way we perceive something influences the way it behaves. When we perceive our bodies to be a stone statue set in time that enevitably warns out over time, that is the kind of biology we create for ourselves. When we perceive our bodies as flowing and forever new like a river, we create a bilogy that is ever changing yet always the same. This is Ageless Body, Timeless Mind.

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful."

- Even Deepak has aged if you look at him. Most of us are just not enlightened enough to be able to avoid death except maybe avatars like Sai Baba. I do love Deepak though. His movie The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is one of my favorites and is so inspiring and uplifting to me.
