Costing less then three hundred dollars, this Dell printer is often seen as being efficient, yet also very compact. It can produce up to fourteen pages of high quality prints every minute, a definite positive in comparison to other options in the same price range. Considering its rapid speed, the overall standard of the finished work is more than adequate for most of us.

If you have been using a more expensive printer you may not find the 1500 quite as professional. In detailed pictures there may be some distortion and smudging of lines, but this is to be expected with printers at the lower end of the price scale. Usually we would not see a difference between the prints of the Dell 1500 and costlier machines for most work.

You also need to understand that this Dell machine does not feature a display screen as is found on some other printers. Whether or not you have need for such a specification is down to your personal requirements. As there's no screen it can be sold at a cheaper cost.

The downside is that you will have to learn exactly what the different lights mean; as if a problem arises such as a paper jam you will not be shown the error on a screen. The Dell 1500 has six different lights, each of which may indicate a different issue. To quickly cancel any print jobs there is a button on the side of the control panel.

It is possible to print up to 15,000 pages each month with the Dell 1500. This would be plenty for any home and most small business. There is a 1,200 x 600 dpi resolution that is high enough for most documents that would require printing. Bear in mind that for higher definition photographs of a large size you may want a more expensive printer.

The size of the input tray should also be considered when checking out new printers. This model has a four hundred sheet input tray, which can feed the printer for half an hour when running at full speed. There is also an auxiliary feeder, although this is only able to handle one envelope at a time.

Before making a decision you should also be aware of the following two points. You can easily alter the darkness and contrast on the Dell 1500 and the memory can be increased up to 144 MB to improve performance. If you are searching for a basic printer that does not break the bank, then this could be the right option for you.

The Dell 1500 toner performs well no matter the contrast you set and on virtually all media, just what you would expect from Dell toner. Having replacement toner on hand can mean completing that rush job without interruption, a job that might just be for your biggest client!
