Get What You Want, Want What You Get

The most difficult thing involving goal setting, is keeping your intentions. How can we make it easier for our efforts to amount to something at the end of this year? Here are some of the people, books and ideas I have come across in my mission to achieve my 2009 goals.

Jack Canfield has been one of my mentors for the past year. Probably the most important and well-known one. This doesn't make me an expert yet, but during this year, I have been exposed to some of the best resources for success and goal achievement that are available.

Jack's book The Success Principles outlines several actions that are critical in accomplishing your goals. I adapted some of these for New Year's Resolutions and recently presented them at the local Toastmaster's meeting. I have summarized my talk under "3 Tips for Achieving New Year's Resolutions".

Zen DeBrucke's Power Manifestation course is an excellent way to tune into the specific goals that will be the most meaningful to your year in 2009.

Stefan Doering, entrepreneur and business coach (BEST Coaches, Inc.), has a slightly different list that is also worth reading, "6 Steps to 2009". He can be contacted at beunreasonable.com

I have also included reviews of other books, DVDs and mp3s that I am in various stages of reading or listening too.  I will also add some links to others I recently have found very informative or entertaining.

3 Tips for Achieving Your Dreams

How to get done what you set out to do

I recently gave a Toastmaster's speech which was very well received. I thought I would include some of the tips that I had given my audience since there were so many questions after my speech.

These short ideas will get you started on your journey to accomplishing your 2009 Goals. Good Luck.

Tip #1 Write it Down

Written goals have been proven by research to be kept more frequently than those just thought of. Read them every day. Put them on a post-it note, or index card somewhere you will see them once a day. Make them S.M.A.R.T. goals, which stands for Specific Measurable Achievable Reasonable and Timely.

Tip #2 Know the Why behind Your Goal

Make sure you know why you want to achieve each of your resolutions. Do you want to earn 10K more next year so that you can fund your children's education or so that you can buy a sports car for yourself? Write these whys down next to your goals.

Tip #3 Breakdown Large Goals into Small Tasks

A large goal might be Organize the house. A small task would be something that would be easy to accomplish. Instead of clean out the spare room, start with straighten one shelf or go through one drawer and toss or donate what isn't needed.

6 Steps for 2009 Resolutions

by Stephan Doering, BeUnreasonable.com

Here are some tips on how to create clarity for yourself and your company:

Step 1: What Is Your Heart Telling You?

This is a feeling based thing. There is no logic yet. Logic is important but comes later. Get clear on the direction your heart is telling you to go. You can do this by comparing levels of excitement. The more excited you feel the more in alignment you are with your desire.

Step 2: What Is The Stretch For You?

This is also a feeling based thing. Here you get in touch with the fear factor. The more scary if feels the more outside your comfort zone you will be. Yet stretching yourself too much is not good for you. It is like going to the gym and if you lift too much weight, you might hurt yourself.

Find that balance of fear and excitement that feels right to you. Remember, keep the logic out right now. Just focus on how the direction feels for you.

Step 3: What Are You Committed To?

This step is extremely important to determine if you will really go for where your heart is telling you to go.

Reflect on what you are really "up to" in your life. Is it seriously stepping into your greatness? Is it living safely and comfortably within your means? Is it going after the unknown no matter what the outcome?

Get clear on it and commit to the next 365 days going in that direction.

Step 4: What Is Specific And Measurable About It?

Here is where you bring in the logic. The importance of making it specific and measurable is so your mind can go to work on how to make this happen.

Do not worry if you are not clear on how it will go. The how will resolve itself once you are clear on "the what" and "by when".

And clear on your commitment.

Step 5: What Is The Fun Factor?

Without fun, you will have a much more difficult time achieving what you want. Most people drop their goals within a short period of time without the fun factor.

Focus on how you will do this while having a blast. This becomes easier to figure out how to add the fun factor the more that which you are going after is in alignment with what your heart is telling you where to go.

Step 6: What Is Your Support Mechanism?

Whenever you are going after something outside your comfort zone, external support is crucial. If it is a goal you have wanted for some time and have not achieved before, this is a big one for you.

With external support you will be 100 times more likely to achieve it... depending on the support system you put in place.

The best type of support team are a small group of like-minded people who will be committed to your greatness. Then set up the structure on how you will work together for support in really going for your goal.

On a regular basis.

Once you have your clarity, stretch, commitment, focus, fun factor and support all worked out and in place, then you are ready to hit the ground running for '09.

I am heading out the door today to sit in a local park here in Merida, Mexico to contemplate this for BEST Coaches, I will most certainly do the same.

And the cool thing in doing this is the more you put into this process, the more excited you will feel about your '09.

Action Step For The Week:

Find a quiet place outside your normal surroundings to contemplate these six steps for clarity on how 2009 is going to go for you.

Make sure you will not be distracted by phones, people, computers or other outside things.

Make your plans, right them down and put them in a place to make sure you will work on them as the clock turns the year to '09.

How the Internal Guidance System Works

*Intro 1 of 3: Living the "how to" Secret Law of Attraction

See www.InternalGuidanceSystem.com for more info, and get a FREE download to help deepen your understanding of the IGS. You can also ask questions about the IGS at www.ahumainstitute.com/igsquestions. The missing element in Manifestation philosophy and using our thoughts to create is what thoughts really get us where we are going? If our emotions are vibrations and these vibrations are creating our reality, what do we do with all this stress, fear and anxiety? Ahuma Institute teaches that you are always receiving information that brings you into greater alignment with your Highest Purpose and thus shows you what thoughts will create your greatest future. We call this information source the Internal Guidance System, or IGS. Each of us has our own Internal Guidance System located in our bodies. Zen DeBrucke in three introductory video's shows you, your IGS and gives you a physical experience of it. Your IGS (sometimes called God, Spirit, or the Divine) has all the information you need to guide your thoughts regarding life decisions, large and small. Learning to use this new consciousness technology will enable you to know what you truly desire and what you are here to learn.

Your Internal Guidance System

An Inexpensive Coaching Option

Personal coaching is another method for goal achievement that is recommended by Jack Canfield in The Success Principles book. Zen DeBrucke's Power Manifestation coaching conference calls are an intermediate step that is worth investigating.

Her coaching on the Internal Guidance System zeroes in on what Stefan Doering suggests in his Step #1 below. She can help you find the difference between what merely sounds exciting to you and what will be exciting to carry out. That's the key to making your resolutions and goals happen.
Power Manifestation
The link above will take you to Zen DeBrucke's powerful video and audio lessons which show how using your own internal senses will lead to better decision making. I have found it invaluable in reorganizing my priorities. The free video links are shown on the home page.

I recommend using this system for finding out which goals you truly desire. There are videos that will give you an overview of how your Internal Guidance System works.

If you don't already have a business or personal coach, try signing up for this monthly program. It's a good way to find out if you would benefit from having a coach. If you already have found a great coach, this is a great supplemental program.

The Power Manifestation monthly program gives you access to the following:

Free live 2 hour monthly coaching call which allows you to ask your own burning questions

Library of mp3 recordings with over 60 hours of past coaching conference calls, and

Zen's Power Manifestation seminar, a 4 CD set that teaches what the Internal Guidance System is, and how to easily work with it when making choices and decisions
