Dental implants

Get that perfect smile you deserve, with dental implants

Get that perfect smile you deserve, with dental implants
Dental implants help you to recapture the beautiful appearance of your smile. Looking and feeling natural; dental implants can help prevent further deterioration of your teeth and give you something to smile about.

What are implants? A Dental Implant is a device designed to permanently replace missing teeth. It is a man-made substitute for the root of a tooth, which is surgically inserted into the jawbone. A dental implant is identical to your natural teeth in strength and function. During this process your natural teeth are not disturbed.

The replacement of missing teeth with dental implants is important to a patient's oral health and overall well-being. What many people do not realise is that a missing tooth can cause crowding, chipping and tilting of surrounding teeth, leading to more complicated dental problems arising. Missing teeth can make you feel self-conscious and affect your chewing ability, preventing you from comfortably enjoying any food that you desire. The good news is that dental implants are your answer to these problems and will give you something to smile about.

What are implants made of? Implants are made of commercially and medically pure Titanium. This is the same metal that has been successfully used in hip replacements for many years.

What are the advantages of implants? Dental implants provide a number of benefits for people seeking solutions to the problems created by tooth loss.

These benefits include:

  • Renewed ability to chew and speak properly

  • Restoration of facial aesthetics

  • Preservation of remaining jaw bone structure

  • Reduction of possible gum problems and infections

Corporatisation in the dental industry

Corporatisation, is it the wave of the future for dentistry?

Corporatisation, is it the wave of the future for dentistry? Many say yes. Could this be the answer
dentists nationwide have been searching for to ensure their dental practice is acknowledged and valued for its true worth.

Why the Dental Industry?
The dental industry represents an attractive market for consolidation given the following:

  • It is a large growing market with in excess of $4 billion in annual revenue

  • It has an attractive economic structure with high gross margins and strong cash flows

  • It is highly fragmented allowing a consolidated business to deliver value to participants beyond financial benefits alone.

The dental industry is one of the few industries today that has had very limited corporatisation/consolidation. Many other professional industries such as medical doctors, accountants, radiologists etc have had industry consolidation - some successfully and some not so successfully.

The success or failure of individual consolidation within those industries can be attributed to two issues - the structure under which the consolidation was undertaken and the management undertaking the consolidation.

As with any business, if the consolidation is poorly managed or fails to retain the day to day management expertise and to provide an ongoing incentive to the vendors then it is doomed to failure.
Dentists need to assess the business model and management before agreeing to join a consolidation group and should get independent advice from their lawyers and accountants.

There are also a number of inefficiencies in the current dental industry which consolidation is potentially able to address:

Training up dentists for the future

While the average age of a head dentist joining a consolidation group is only 48, over time these groups will need a pool of qualified and well trained young dentists to assume day-to-day management from the current head dentists as they wind back their involvement and/or retire. Career opportunities for young dentists are presently limited with a lack of on the job training and mentoring available.

Dental Corporation, an Australian based consolidation group who have recently acquired more than 30 practices nationwide have made it their priority under their business model for younger dentists to participate in training and mentoring programs under the guidance of the head dentists in the group.
Enabling dentists to focus on dentistry

Paper work and back office complexity has grown significantly in recent years. One of the common frustrations among many dentists is the time taken to oversee the financial operations of their dental practice. Under the Dental Corporation model all financial functions from payment of staff and suppliers to rents and equipment purchases is undertaken by the central management team with the dentist receiving monthly profit reports and analysis for their own practice. This allows dentists more time to focus on what they do best-dentistry, also leaving them with more time for participation in personal and business pursuits

Sharing knowledge and expertise

The day to day operations of the dental practice can be insular and contact with fellow professionals outside one's practice can be limited.

By joining a larger group through consolidation, dentists are provided with the opportunity for the practitioner to be part of a growing business with a group of dentists allowing a high level of interaction between fellow dentists in the group.

Corporatisation might just be the wave of the future for dentistry. Dental Corp
