We are all aware of the difference a high impact picture can make to a lens and the range available at DerivativeImages already is starting to look good. More pictures are being added all the time and full technical details of the pictures are given alongside the images as well as any conditions of use there may be.
You can request the original full sized file and most of those are also available free of charge, although a small donation towards the effort expended is clearly a reasonable request.
Definitely a site worthy of a bookmark and a scan through when looking for images to include on your lenses.
My Current Favourite Pic
I particularly like this picture which has had the reflection and black background added. It was taken from a public domain picture and is being returned to public domain as the DerivativeImages altered picture shown to the right. You can find the image and its details here.
As I see it, the main benefit of the DerivativeImages site is that it gives people access to some eyecatching images with a difference they can use on their websites and blogs without fear of any copyright issues. In this day and age that is ever more important.
I'll keep changing around the pics I use on this lens to show a bit of the variety available, some may even take up permanent residence on this lens.

A Dragon Can Fly - DerivativeImages
Another striking example of the images available at DerivativeImages.com, the desaturated background really makes the dragonfly above stand out.To the right, you'll find a rather stunning picture of a butterfly butterfly treated in a similar way to the dragonfly, you can view the larger image on this page.
These images are my current favourites. I'll be keeping an eye on what's new over there and I've added a feed from the site below so you can see the latest pictures available.
I reckon it's a promising new site which could benefit webpages across the net.
Please leave a comment, let me know what you think.

- Hi Octavia, I followed you here from the discussion of text ads at SquidU. This is very interesting, I hadn't heard of it before. Thanks!
