Designer Clothes

Cristobal Balenciaga began the house of Balenciaga in 1918. He was favored by the Queen of Spain, the Queen of Belgium, Babe Paley, Gloria Guinness, and Marlene Dietrich. Balenciaga introduced the sack, the baby doll, the balloon skirt, and the bracelet sleeve. He died in 1972.

French designer Nicolas Ghesquière became creative director at the age of 26 in 1997. Ghesquière knew as a teenager that he wanted to be fashion designer. He interned at Agnes B., became an assistant at Jean Paul Gaultier and then joined Balenciaga's design team. After two years he became creative director. Ghesquière's signature looks include the skinny pant, tailored dresses in techno
materials like embroidered latex or patent leather, motorcycle jackets, gold metal "robot" leggings, and voluminous, rounded or batwing sleeves.
