Symptoms of diabetes vary from person to person. The same two people will not experience all of the symptoms or for that matter, even the exact same ones.

Often, diabetes is not diagnosed because many of the symptoms are harmless and in some cases not present at all. Due to recent studies, early detection of symptoms and early treatment of these symptoms can considerably decrease the chance of developing terrible complications that are caused from diabetes. Symptoms can be things like, excessive thirst which in turn can cause frequent urination. There is also increased hunger or even on the opposite side unusual weight loss.

Even in cases that there is an increased appetite, the body is not getting the nutrition it needs because the cells become starved for energy. The glucose isn't going to the cells, it is staying in the blood. Fatigue is increased as well as blurry vision and irritability. Blurry vision is due to the fact that diabetes tends to most commonly affect the eyes.

If diabetes affects the kidneys, the kidneys are unable to cleanse the blood and dialysis will be required to do the filtering. Many websites allow someone who thinks they may be suffering to take an online assessment to check and see if they are at risk for diabetes.

If you happen to have one or more of the symptoms, it is recommended that you see a doctor as quickly as possible. The above symptoms are those typical of Type 1 diabetes whereas Type 2 differs slightly. With type 2 you can also suffer from cuts or sores that are slow in healing. Also, there can be itchy skin or frequent yeast infections.

Increased thirst is also a symptom of type 1 but with type 2 it comes with dry mouth. Leg pain is also another symptom that differs between the two. People with type 2 on average have it for four to seven years before they are diagnosed.

Doctors tend to make diagnoses based on the complications from the disease rather then the symptoms alone. It is critical that you be checked for diabetes if you are showing any symptoms.
