Great lens! I'm teaching "A Christmas Carol" to my K-2 literature class tomorrow. We're using the Disney version of the story book since I couldn't find a more child-friendly version.
  • aesta1 Nov 20, 2011 @ 9:13 pm | delete
I still love the 1951 version.
  • Shipra00 Nov 14, 2011 @ 11:48 pm | delete
When the new Disney Christmas Carol movie came out in 2009, I thought it would be a great time for educators and families to learn more about this timeless work of literature
  • beckyf Nov 13, 2011 @ 4:53 pm | delete
What an excellent lens! Such good ideas here. :)
I'm going to add your lens to my "A Christmas Carol" lens.
  • MintySea Nov 7, 2011 @ 6:24 am | delete
Muppet's Christmas Carol (Disney) is a fave of mine. While its wacky it actually preserves much of dickens text and is one of the more true to Story (Sept for marley)
I long to see the Patrick Stewart
And I did enjoy the scott version
I have seen a lot of bad versions
  • JoyfulPamela Nov 7, 2011 @ 6:47 am | delete
Yes, there are many good versions, but also some that are not true to Dickens original. Thanks for sharing your ideas. =D

Truly a timeless classic that we enjoy every year. Although we like Bill Murray's Scrooged, the best is the old black and white version! Now you have me thinking about a Squidmas Carol! :)
  • jonart Dec 25, 2010 @ 11:07 pm | delete
Hello there: Enjoyed your lens. I still have some old 78's records in a "Christmas Carol" album starring Basil Rathbone. Must have been done in the 40's and that's when I listened to them. It's definitely a classic story.
  • javrsmith Dec 21, 2010 @ 12:16 pm | delete
I haven't seen all of the versions yet. So far, I like Alistair Sim the best. Blessed by a Squid Angel.

A Christmas Carol is probably one of the very best books ever written. It's story is timeless. It has been made and re-made into movies over and over again. It's message never dies.
  • ElizabethJeanAllen Nov 3, 2010 @ 6:39 pm | delete
We always watch two versions of The Christmas Carol on Thanksgiving. It sets the right tone for the Christmas season.

I love the story of "A Christmas Carol"! It is by far my favorite holiday tale ... and Mickey's Christmas Carol is my favorite version. This is an excellent lens that contains a wealth of information and ideas for teaching this classic. It's definitely a story that kids should become familiar with. 5* and lensrolled to "Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour"
  • lostinfiction Dec 30, 2009 @ 9:15 am | delete
wow, kudos to you for putting all this info together! Very well done. Also have a look at his Infloox page - I've seen quite a bit there about where Dickens drew his influences in order to write the book. I'd never have guessed that they'd be so unrelated, in a way! :)
  • Chappelle Dec 12, 2009 @ 6:44 am | delete
Great information and well done lens!

A Christmas Carol. This story is very inspiring. I've seen a couple of plays about this story, yet, I'm willing to watch some more. This is really a good story that should be passed on to future generations.

Hope you could visit my lens as well. Thanks

A great lens about a great story. I've just been sitting bemoaning the numerous Xmas adverts on telly. More christmas spirit than retail hype is needed!

Really great lens. Maybe this will be a good year to read "Christmas Carol" to my kids. They've seen it on TV, but never read the book.

Ok, so I would have definitely failed that test! I put my comments in the wrong comment box.

This is a beautiful lens and an excellent resource lens.

I love you bio. If my children were still "homeschool" age, I would definitely be seeking your help and advice. I believe you will be an excellent asset to all homeschooling Moms.
