The Brittany is gorgeous and I've always loved Beagles. Can't stand toy dogs. Never knew the term "whelp" as anything other than an exclamation so that was fun. Enjoyed your lens. Thanks.

Great lens! I have a black pug and a long hair Brussels Griffon myself. They are awesome breeds that anyone would be happy with though in the US the Griffons are still fairly hard to come by because they are a relatively new breed.

As a dog walker and dog lover, I thank you for this comprehensive page. I was particularly happy to see some of the rare dogs in photos such as the Irish spaniel. I have a cocker spaniel cross and find the breed fascinating.

I grew up with a Lab (Jet Star). My Uncle used to raise them and was a field trial judge for years. He gave me Jet as a puppy and then years later I bought Lobo (AKC Malamute) and then years later found Chena (Malamute) at a shelter. Best 3 friends I ever had.

This lens brought back fond memories of my childhood when I owned my first puppy that was a white Boxer. I remember putting a wind up clock in her box to mimmic her mothers heartbeat. We had Winkie for 13 fun and enjoyable years.

  • springerwebsitedesign Dec 11, 2010 @ 12:42 pm | delete
I have a springer spaniel however i grew up with Border collies, german shephards, and red setters. I must admit I love my springer spaniel and will definatly be getting another, however I am still tempted by all three other breeds. I think diferent breeds have different needs and it is important you can forfill them and have the personality to match - for example a german shepherd needs an owner how will be top dog - yes the other breeds do to but a powerful dog such as a shepherd needs to know it's place.

Brilliant guide to breeds, Thanks! dog products
  • JVandewalker Dec 8, 2010 @ 4:36 pm | delete
Great lens on the different kinds of dog breeds there are. As a dog owner myself, I know the kind of joy they can bring.
Keep a close eye on your animals to see if you spot any bald infected areas. Hot spots on dogs can be treated easily with a couple steps.
  • Archie_Right Dec 5, 2010 @ 2:58 am | delete

Thumbs up! Many people think of German Shepherds as a working breed, but you are right - they are herders first (and classified that way!). More about training a German Shepherd here and a 3-part training plan for German Shepherds here on Squidoo.

Adorable 'doggy' pictures. You've done a good job of compiling all these different breeds. I once had a Golden Retriever and think it's the best dog breed ever! Hubby grew up with a Weimaraner named Hans! Had to have a German name, don't you know! :-).

Great pictures and well organized. Our border collie & blue heeler mix is very smart and tons of fun. Except she doesn't like the water, which is a drag because my husband and I love the beach. 5* to your lens!

Very good lens. We used to have Afgan hound when I was little and later we had two crossbreeds. Actually, we have no idea what breeds they had in them, quite a few different ones, but they were really awesome dogs.

These are terrific pictures of so many varieties of dogs. The only dog I've ever owned was a Golden Retriever, which is such a friendly dog - loves everybody, including Cats! Hubby's family had a Weimaraner for years, named Hans, who understood German! :-).

    Thanx for visiting my lens!
I enjoyed going through your dog breed lens and I loved the pictures.
I've had quite a few of the breeds you named, but right now I am in love with the Papillon dogs. I don't care much for dog hair and odor, so the Papillon has got my vote.

Hi diva, thanks for your generous comments about my lens. I thought I'd mosey on over and have a look at yours. Heh! I love dogs and it's impossible not to look through with a smile on your face and the Great Dane was laugh-out-loud. Fantastic lens - 5 stars and faved. Also - I have an amusing shot of my Mum's dog - a Pembrokeshire Welsh Corgi - in full flight, with a bone in her mouth. She's a pedigree - which you could use if you liked. Have a good one.
