OVER TO YOU

SEND ME YOUR PHOTOS

From the lens Dinosaurs for Kids.

It would be great to put your children's dinosaur drawings up here and anything else you've done as a family around the Dinosaur Discovery theme. Take some photos, let me know and I'll upload them. You can see the pictures George, Sandy and Jaime drew just above. William and Catherine would love to see your drawings so please send them to me...

And by the way, you can LEAVE YOUR COMMENT HERE even if you aren't a member of Squidoo.

Nice technique on the dragonfly! where do I buy the acetate? and what type of acetate is it--can you give a brand name? thanx
  • LearningIsFun Jan 30, 2012 @ 5:12 am | delete
    Hi Dezzy,
I bought my acetate sheet in a craft shop. You don't want the really flimsy OHP stuff, it needs to be a sheet of reasonable thickness that will keep its shape. There was no brand name obvious but there were lots of sheets like it there! I used gel pens to mark the wing patterns, blue card for the body, black card for the legs and added some holographic paper for body markings and the eyes. You could use the same technique to make lots of fun creatures. There are many more craft ideas on my website. I really enjoyed making it; hope you do too. Best wishes, Sonya

This looks like a fun project to do with the grandkids. Thanks!

Wow - some great ideas here. While my Helena will be going to a conventional school here, I'll certainly be building robot dinosaurs from scrap with her (and robot other stuff too). This will be great fun, as I know schools tend to flatten history into a real "Chalk and talk" bore.

Well done to all of you, I've really enjoyed this site. Hope to see you at the museum or the Cardiff group one day,

Wow, what an inspiring lens. It is beautiful, informative, fun, and, as clearly shown the whole family can take part on it, what else you can ask for? My boys (8 and 11) were very interested in reading it and already asked to do some of the projects.

    > What an amazing site...lots of effort to get this up and do / make all the things as well. Specially liked your and Catherines dragonfly and I have to say that all the dino robots looked amazing. What an arty family! Should be a fantastic resource for lots of people.
  • Erica Worth Nov 12, 2009 @ 5:28 pm | delete
The care and effort that has gone into this is evident throughout. It's inspirational, creative, fun and offers paths to explore an amazing time in Earth's history. The variety of the artwork (with contributions from the whole family) is impressive - I especially like the Terror-Saw. The simple clothes peg is possibly the most evocative household item in the Dino-Bot pack.

This is a wonderful lens, well-structured and beautifully illustrated - well done to the Team! A great deal of research and thought has clearly gone into its creation. It is not only informative, providing useful links to all sorts of other sites, but it's great fun as well! I hope it inspires the same enthusiasm as has clearly been devoted to creating it.

This is a quality lens, you did a really great job making this a creative and hands-on unit. Our family are just about to embark on our study of the protozoic era, and under that segment we will be studying microscopic life (with the introduction of the microscope!). When we finally make it to the Mesozoic Era we will deffinitely be utilizing your lens--the dino-robots look like so much fun to do! And you should be proud of the ones your kids made, they look super! Thank so much for first-rate lens!
  • Evelyn_Saenz Nov 9, 2009 @ 4:53 am | delete
Some people may think that this lens is too long but as someone who looks for helpful ideas for creating unit studies, I love having so many creative suggestions all in one place.

Thank you for sharing your Dinosaur Unit Study.

You have clearly put an immense amount of effort into this lens and it is very well presented. You could probably make several lenses from the material here :-)
