Disaster tourism

Ranked #9,104 in Travel & Places, #236,874 overall

Disaster tourism is the act of traveling to a disaster area as a matter of curiosity.

That's what Wikipedia says, although other sources also indicate that the disaster tourists may be motivated not only by curiosity, but also by grief and fear.

Some of the most popular disaster tourism destinations include:

- Ground Zero in NYC after 9/11,

- New Orleans, Louisiana after the Hurricane Katrina and

- Phuket, Thailand after the disastrous tsunami.
