The Colour of Magic
In 2 parts on SKY TV - 23rd/24th April 2008
After the tremendous success of The Hogfather Sky TV commissioned the adaption of the First Book in the Discworld Series - The Colour of Magic. Though they do seem to have cheated slightly by making it a 2 part adaptation and including the 2nd book - The Light Fantastic.The story starts with a rather sad failure of a wizard being chartered by a tourist to see the delights of Ankh-Morpuk. Various adventures, though some would say calamities, are encountered by the duo. Well, actually it's a Trio as you have got to admit that the rather animated Luggage does play quite a lead roll in protecting and saving the duo from harm and disaster.
It's likely to be a while before this is given a DVD release as Sky will want to reshow it on numerous occasions first, as was done with The Hogfather.

Terry Pratchett Diagnosed With Alzheimer's

In a letter published on the nearest Pratchett gets to an official website - Discworld News he wrote of 'An Embuggerance' and that 'I still aten't dead'. It shows his typical humour is still very much intact and promises a few more discworld novels yet.
He ended his letter 'Frankly, I would prefer it if people kept things cheerful, because I think there's time for at least a few more books yet :o)'
So please do heed his request and join with us in wishing him well and looking forward to his next books.
Terry has donated $1million to alzhiemers research BBC News Story. He was quoted as saying "I'd eat the arse out of a dead mole if it offered a fighting chance."

Terry Pratchett tells a dirty joke
During his appearance at a theatre in Berlin, promoting his new book Thud!, famous comic fantasy writer Terry Pratchett tells a dirty joke. Sorry for the lack of steadiness there, it was shot using 12x zoom and without anything to rest my arms on. That excuse enough? ;) Transcript following. PLEASE DO NOT READ ON IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SPOIL THE PUNCHLINE FOR YOURSELF! ----------- [...] but it should not affect [minors etc.]. I like the pure mathematics of the joke. A man goes into a pub, carrying an alligator under one arm. Puts it down on the table. And he says:"I've got a trick. I bet there's no one here who is prepared to do this." He opens the alligator's mouth and..well...um.. reveals a certain part of his own...anatomy, which he places therein. And then he brings down his hand on the alligator's head, like this BAMM! He blinks a little while and then he says: "Is there anyone here prepared to do that?" There's a long pause, and then an old lady at the back of the pub gets up and says: "I don't mind giving it a try but you mustn't hit me so hard on the head."
