Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey

Each Disney Princess in Enchanted Journey has a different story and world, with graduating difficulty levels. The directions are clearly explained verbally in-game, a thoughtful feature for beginning readers. Likewise, the wii-mote controls are forgiving. My three-year-old still has some trouble with the controls, but he can figure it out. The seven-year-old has no problems.

The character customization options allow a choice of a few different hair styles, dresses, accessories, and skin tones. The story begins very cliche - your character has amnesia - but the rest is fairly well done. The princess' weapon is her wand, shooting blasts of magic, or twirl for an area of effect attack, to return missing colors or turn the Bogs back into their natural form: butterflies. I appreciated that they weren't actually killing anything.

I also liked that the player-character's princess was having the adventure and doing the rescuing. And that there's actual adventure to be had.

My seven-year-old loved Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey, and was able to complete the game on her own. It's one of my three-year-old's favorites because it closely fits his skill level; it doesn't frustrate him the way other games do. All in all, I found it an excellent value for my family at just under $20.
